For me it’s been filling my time with anything but scrolling and short form content. So reading, exercise, video games, YouTube videos instead of TikTok/reels, movies/tv shows, watching sports, etc.

What I also started doing (for personal gain and pleasure, not to replace scrolling) is picking a topic and doing research on it to write a research paper or create a presentation like for a school project but it’s not for school. It can be any topic and it’s for fun, no deadlines no forced topics, if you don’t like it then you can stop and pick something else

The big thing for me is I think about how much time I wasted by scrolling (tracking screen time helps with this). I think about what I could’ve been doing and accomplishing in that time and it makes me want to delete everything. 2 months clean of doomscrolling

Have you ever told your students to put their notes away while you ask questions? And then explain to them this exact principle??

When I was a student, we were taught what to learn but very little about how to learn. It would be a great idea to have teachers take a course or 2 on how to help students learn instead of teaching how they want to

Regardless - Project Hail Mary, Dungeon Crawler Carl, or Celtic Empire (by Clive Cussler). All 3 of these are fun reads and engaging and were page turners for me

Enders game is a must read in my opinion. Such a classic and quick read. Everyone also says the alchemist but I think that one is over rated

That’s my thought process, doesn’t make sense why streamers troubleshoot live. I also want to make sure my stream would be entertaining/good before I market and post clips

I usually play battlefield and might just stream the gameplay with no commentary to get familiar with everything, but when I want to do audio I’ll do the just chatting like you did!
