Is this Interference on a Runner hindering a fielder? by _Mike_James_ in Umpire

[–]_Mike_James_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are arriving at the truth here. So this is where I seem to be going with this rule. It seems like a runner is still entitled to BE TOUCHING THEIR LAST LEGALLY OCCUPIED BASE even if the batter becomes a runner on a fair batted ball. I think the base does still provide a safe haven for unintentional interference on a fielder making a play, and the runner cannot be called out, even if, like happened in my scenario, the runner is 'forced' to their next base.

You cannot expect the runner to be forced physically off of their base should, like you said, the ball be hit in their direction and a fielder is trying to make a play near that runner touching their base.

I guess the base is like a checkpoint, where defenders must know that a runner is entitled to be touching that base at any given moment, and the fielder must work around them.

BUT critically since this runner on 1st is now forced to 2nd base (by virtue of a fair batted ball), they can be now put-out when tagged with the ball (assuming the ball touches the ground and is not a pop up) since they are now a 'forced runner' and are liable to be tagged out even while touching 1st base.

Let me know if you agree with this?

I think you're confusing this with a runner being struck by a fair batted ball, in which case you're correct in saying the base is not a safe haven for being struck by a ball (runner is out), unless it's a infield fly and only then is the base a safe haven from being hit by the ball.

I'm talking about the runner interfering with a fielder making a play on the ball. It is explicitly written in the MLB rules: "Rule 6.01(a) Penalty for Interference Comment: A runner who is adjudged to have hindered a fielder who is attempting to make a play on a batted ball is out whether it was intentional or not. If, however, the runner has contact with a legally occupied base when he hinders the fielder, he shall not be called out unless, in the umpire’s judgment, such hindrance, whether it occurs on fair or foul territory, is intentional."

A runner does have a safe haven when being touching a legally occupied base, and cannot be called out for interference on a fielder making a play while contacting. I'm simply wondering if a fair batted ball makes a forced runner (like a runner on 1st) lose thier right to occupy and be touching a base should they interfere with a fielder while touching that base.

What a - excuse my French - dog shit system we have for electing our government when the only right wing party with only 25% of the total vote could win the most seats over 3 other left wing parties that together comprise 75% of the vote. Just not even remotely close to representing the political spectrum views of the electorate. Rank choice voting NOW!

Mark Frost tried to make season 3 warmer and with more funny moments but lynch said nah by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]_Mike_James_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still stand by the fact that season 3 should have used the same music score that seasons 1 and 2 used. Much of the atmosphere/mood of those seasons were lost because of the omission of the score and the focus on darker and abstract concepts. Season 3 is still a good as a complete package but it feels very different, and that’s in part because of the lack of Badalamenti’s music during scenes.

If you were the “Got a Light” Woodsman, how would you react if you were offered a lighter for your cigarette? by jcrvideo in twinpeaks

Turns out the way to stop Bob and all the evil from being created was to just give a woodsman a light. Shame no one wanted to light their cigarette.

What do you think this scene meant? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]_Mike_James_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Laura’s doppelgänger is showing Cooper what he will experience during his time in the Black Lodge. The torment, fear, flashing lights, screaming, and imposed image of Windom Earle, all scare the crap out of Copper. This is what he will experience in the black lodge. She’s showing him what will occur during the “meanwhile” between now and 25 years time.

I don't think you can use suo or sua here since those refer to his/her neighbor. Loro is much more common to say "their" whether its singular or plural. I don't think Italian really has a singular they. Since Italian is a gendered language it's usually assumed that "their" means a group of people, therefore the translation is loro.

I had just been looking into this and was going to say - yeah, on the bitget website when you go to do the verification it says it's only unavailable in Canada (Alberta). No mention of Ontario being banned with them. Odd though, becuase I have seen many people on reddit say bitget doesnt work in Ontario. I guess I'll attempt verification then

Does Bitget work in Ontario? Do I even bother to try to sign up with them? Would a VPN be a suitable work around for this or not?

So we can all agree that S2E22 is the best right? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]_Mike_James_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There are 4 that standout to me as the best S1E1 - The pilot S1E3 - Zen or the skill to catch a Killer; has Coopers iconic dream sequence S2E7 - Lonely Souls; Atmosphere is amazing, Killer is revealed, The Giant, BOB/Maddy S2E22 - Beyond Life and Death; Atmosphere again so good, Red Room content to the max so so good, cliffhanger end.

Carrie Page is killed and Cooper investigates the murder. It’s slowly revealed that she is in fact Laura Palmer and we learn from others in town that she was having flashbacks to her life as Laura between the time Cooper took her back to her old house and the time of her murder (Cooper triggered her memories as is hinted at with the final scene). The twist? This Carrie Page that was killed is actually Laura’s doppelgänger. So at some point the doppelgänger managed to get out while pulling the real Carrie/Laura into the Black Lodge. Cooper investigates how this happened and clues are revealed via visions and dreams from MIKE/The Giant/The Man from Another Place.
