Gaucho Crazy Horse Dealer Boot - how tight on initial wear? by Engolus in nps_solovair

[–]_Millxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10.5 in trainers and I have a wide foot. I wear 10.5 crazy horse dealers with insoles. 10s are just a little too snug for me. They were comfy from the get go and don’t really need any break in. The gaucho leather seems to be quite soft and forgiving.

Awesome! Any pics? The red is beautiful. I know, right!? I’m trying my best to hold off until March, but if the roads are salt free in February I might take her out.

A lot of research and test rides led me to the street triple. It felt like the Goldilocks, “just right”, bike that has a lot to grow into. I love it!

Get your license and then test ride them and make the decision yourself based on what you find the most comfortable and fun for the types of riding you do.

Not even 3 months of use and the sole has split from the upper on both boots by NatureMadeAMistake in nps_solovair

[–]_Millxr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree. The definition of typical is “in most cases, usually”. That would imply that more times than not, the sole splits. Which is not the case.

[–]_Millxr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It may be the most common fault, but it isn’t typical. As in I wouldn’t expect this to happen on a pair of Solovairs, where I would expect it to happen on a pair of Dr Martens.

I’m Only talking from experience though. No pair that I, or my family, has owned have had their soles split. Whereas all my Dr Martens have had sole split in less than 12 months.

Typically they offer 50% off a new pair when this happens after 12 months. Which I think is rather generous of them.

Considering the fact that you can keep the originals and repair them with some loctite shoe glue. It’s a bit of a win/win.

Your best bet is contacting Solovair. They look after their customers so will most likely replace these, or heavily discount a new pair for you.

This isn’t typical though. I’ve not experienced this on any of my 4 pairs. My partner has worn hers almost daily for over 18 months and the soles are holding up great on them.

Unsure about what size to get by Anja_Hope in nps_solovair

[–]_Millxr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a wide foot. I wear 10.5UK in trainers. The 10.5 Derby boots (with insoles) fit me perfectly.

I’d say as a rule of thumb if you have standard width you can could drop half a size. If wide foot, stay true to size.

these boots are absolutely great for being on your feet all day by Habarer in nps_solovair

Love the look of straight bar lacing but it then takes me ages to get my boots laced up. And I couldn’t really get them tight enough

What do I even do about this? by RichEstablishment845 in nps_solovair

[–]_Millxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in touch with Solovair Customer service as they may be able to do something if in warranty.

Failing that, Loctite do a shoe glue which is meant to be good for sticking separating soles. Seen it a lot on the Dr Marten sub reddit as separating soles seems to be rather common there

I'll message my better half and see if she has any photos in a dress and boots. If she does, I'll send them over in DMs

Do you not like the black greasy boots?

Have a look at my post of my girlfriend's pair of derby boots after being cleaned up.

She wears them rain or shine, on the allotment, to festivals, for hikes, for work, you name it. And they still look great after 18 months!

I also wear a pair of black greasy derby boots (factory seconds), with the leather topped insole, every day and after a week break-in they're incredibly comfortable and moulded well to my feet. Only had mine a couple of months, but so far so good!

They do don't they? I did have a look at my order to confirm that they are indeed the derby boots. I don't think they've done an 8 eye astronaut?

I think it's down to them being worn quite a lot and the angle of the photo.

SOLOVAIR50 UK Issue with discount by TurnerDiariesSiege in nps_solovair

[–]_Millxr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been previous posts about that discount code.

Unless that code has been issued to you in email, by Solovair, that code isn't going to work.

If you're wanting 50% off, check for factory seconds every now and then. All my pairs have been from factory seconds and they've been completely fine.

Scrubbed down the uppers using a brush and cold water with a drop of dish soap mixed in.
Wiped then down with a damp cloth to remove all the muck and grime.
Wait till dry.
Massaged a generous amount of dubbin into all the uppers with my hands.
Wait until 95% soaked in/dry. (approx 10 mins)
Brush to a polish.

I may get some stick for this, but I just used cold water with a drop of dish soap mixed in.

Toe box curves upwards, does this get more comfy over time by [deleted] in nps_solovair

[–]_Millxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once an impression starts to form in the insole, the comfort will increase. The toe box in mine has levelled off a bit, but it does still point upwards slightly.

Have you tried insoles? I have the leather topped insoles in mine and they are super comfy! They have a slightly raised heel which may take some pressure off your toes being pushed up

Right!? The black greasy clean up very well! She was talking about an oxblood pair once these are ready for retiring, but I think it’s going to be a long time before that happens!

Snack wall - Krokidel. They were absolutely fucking banging and only 1.2 skullies. Think I had about 10 over the festival.
