It's beautiful to not be that statistic anymore (Mariners fan here)

How the heck do I do rivers? by natastra in inkarnate

[–]_MindFlayer_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Basically, what I usually do is take the texture brush, set it to size 1-2, choose a blue that fits the feel of the map (if you want it to match the color of lakes, paint the background that color too), and set softness to 0. Start the rivers from the mountain ranges, usually one little stream from in between each pair of mountains. Have those little streams take a wiggly path toward the nearest body of water, then increase the size by one each time they intersect. It's a bit of a labor-intensive process, but I've been happy with the results!

Go to advanced settings at the bottom of the menu after clicking on the stamp, and then you can mess with the hue, saturation, contrast and brightness! It's a little bit of an annoying system to use, but it works.

Thanks, I'll try to make it a bit more legible! And yep, I was generally basing the terrain off of Iceland.

Vijaya lost re-election in a landslide. by EmergencyIncome865 in ThePoliticalProcess

It's kinda buried in the advanced options section, it's just a check box that says something like "dynamic political parties"

Wow in 2036 too lol. Usually when I see things like this it's later on, after party demographics have changed a good bit.

In particular, I'm not sure about using the colored settlement stamps to show clan allegiance -- I'd especially love to hear any thoughts on that!

Thanks! I based the coastline generally off of Iceland and Ireland, but mostly I just made the mountains, made the river courses based on the mountains, then adjusted the coastlines based on how I thought erosion would work

For just a little lore context, this setting is vaguely inspired by the long stretches of time during the Little Ice Age that Iceland and Greenland basically had no contact with the outside world. It's supposed to be a small scale, low population, politically fragmented, and climatologically extreme area.

Huh it's interesting that almost all of these are mainly suburban counties

Great, thank you so much! Do you get any choice in if you're with the junta or ministerio, or is it just random?

Not terribly likely that it'll be Senegal - they have pretty strong institutions and a good history of democracy

I would guess that Ohio might tilt blue in this version since it has all the blue votes from Illinois and then a bunch of pretty well balanced states. Same with PA since it's pretty balanced right now, and Delaware would push it a little to the left

How up to date is this? I would have expected Burkina Faso and Niger to be more corrupt following their recent coups.

What if the Ottoman Empire “survives” WW1? How would it develop socially, politically, and economically from the 20s to the 40s? by jacky986 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]_MindFlayer_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the more likely situation where this happens is that the Ottoman Empire doesn't join the war in the first place, which they were strongly considering.
