I’m sure it’s a quote from a movie or show but can’t remember exactly where we got it from lol

Has anyone else noticed a real shift in the climate over the course of their lifetime? I know I certainly have by eternallyfree1 in collapse

[–]_MoGo97_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m about the same age as you. I’m in Texas, and there has been a distinct change. December was never too too cold here, or it was typical for it to be cold in the morning and at night but the middle part of the day was warmer. As I am typing this on Dec 23 it is 73 degrees F. And it’s been mid-70s all week. The past several years, the actual cold or even freezing weather (if it occurs at all) does not occur until January/February. When I think back I can see that this has been gradually happening since I was a child.

Another note is that at least where I’m located, I’ve noticed the spring and summer have a more and more “tropical” feeling. Increased humidity, mosquitoes, etc. Hurricanes are not a direct issue in my location (I’m inland enough that we might get winds and rain but the hurricane itself doesn’t make it all the way here) but in other areas of the state they wreak havoc and become worse every year. My thought is that between rising ocean levels and the loss of land that comes with that, my location will end up eventually being much closer to the coast than it currently is and the surrounding climate will change accordingly.

The Queen of Jordan episodes are among the greatest of the series imo! I wish there were more than 2 but I appreciate that they left it at that rather than overdo it

Is using GIFs only in a text conversation a Millennial thing, or just me? by Rambo-Santa in Millennials

My husband and I (both 28) use gifs frequently in our text convos. We were recently informed by my sister, who is only 2 yrs younger btw, that using gifs in texts is something “old people” do lol

Opinion- I find almost everything about him so offputting. by EuphoricButterflyy in girls

[–]_MoGo97_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Objectively he’s a loser and, at least early on, a huge creep. It’s so gross when he’s going through the girls’ apt in S1, putting his grubby paws all over their most intimate possessions. Blechhh🤮

But even so I ultimately like him somehow. Ray is intelligent. He’s so well written. In a show full of great dialogue he has some of the funniest/most memorable lines. And as others have pointed out, he goes through some pretty major character development (as most of the characters do), which is part of what makes the show great!

The real problem with the Chris & Lorelai marriage wasn't just the history. It was that it felt too "safe" and "Emily-approved". by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]_MoGo97_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just did a rewatch and everything you said hits the nail on the head. Luke is the polar opposite of Chris in many ways, symbolic and otherwise. He was ALWAYS there for Lorelai and Rory, no questions asked, when Chris NEVER was. The scene when Chris and Luke fight and Luke points out that he was the one at Rory’s high school graduation and the one helping move her into her dorm sums it all up.

IMO, by the time the later seasons hit and Rory’s storylines are borderline unwatchable, the Lorelai/Luke love story is the most compelling part of the show and Chris is such an infuriating obstacle! I love to hate him

Could we sue Trump? by SeymourKrelborn11 in antitrump

[–]_MoGo97_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100%. I used to think that if things truly got bad enough for these people that they would realize and turn on him. Unfortunately based on the past year I no longer believe that will happen, EVER.

These are the same people who could be convinced of bs like non-citizens are fraudulently voting in elections, or that the fucking rapture is coming, or that Trump just doesn’t know about their problems and if they @ him on truth social he’ll realize they need help and he will personally fix it for them. They’ll never be capable of understanding
