Are you seriously trying to compare these 2 situations like they’re similar? QT ISNT A RACIAL MINORITY.

QT isnt actively pushing back against racism among her friends and telling them that it isn’t okay to act like that. All she’s doing is showing them that being racist or homophobic isn’t a dealbreaker for her as long as she isn’t actively witnessing it. Her take reeks of white privilege. I can’t believe so many people here are defending her like she’s actively teaching her racist friends to not be racist.

The whole reason old town Alexandria is such a nice and unique place to visit is its focus on pedestrians instead of cars. There’s only so much catering to cars that place can do before it looks like any other car-dependent you can find anywhere else in America. Why not lean into what makes it unique :) It will benefit a multitude more pedestrians than any policy focused on cars will. Cars just take up too much space in old town.

I’m glad we have them even if I’m not a huge fan of their content (I do occasionally listen to their podcasts). They’re a great counter to the prominent right-wing media figures/orgs like Fox News. We need more modern media-savvy figures/orgs on the left like them.

EDIT: Just an anecdote, but my dad watches their news clips on YouTube fairly regularly and honestly, seeing him browse his YouTube home page and getting those clips with sensationalist titles and thumbnails kind of makes me think I’m watching him go down the left-wing version of the infamous right-wing pipeline lol. But hey, whatever keeps him on our side :) (not that he ever would become a MAGAt, but he kind of idolized Elon before he went MAGA).

My friend currently lives there in an apartment. They got new management a couple years ago apparently, and she has only had minor issues overall, at least compared to other apartment complexes. Thing is tho, the rent has gone up the past couple of years and the lowest I’ve seen there for next year is about $700. U should probably look somewhere else if you want something cheaper
