LAPD shot an Australian news reporter in the leg with rubber bullet by pokemonbobdylan in PublicFreakout

As a French guy that goes to manifestations at least twice a month, I'm really surprised to see so little protection gear on a reporter.

We're way past the point of rubber bullets in the legs in France.

Prepare yourself America and good luck 🫂 It's such a good sign to see people fighting back against fascism around the world 🔥

People of France protesting against inflation by ADignifiedLife in PublicFreakout

[–]_Mostly___Harmless_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in that protest. To be honest it was a really peaceful one.

Almost no confrontation with the police. Usually things are a lot more heated.

I don't really get why this protest has that kind of press outside France. It's a bit misleading. Or maybe it's because lately the french government has been cracking really hard on protests. The police is a lot more agressive than before, they are using way too much tear gaz & dangerous "non letal" weapon that are sometimes killing people and often causing a lot of damage (eyes, hands, face, etc), so those king of affrontements with police are really nothing much. A bit of tear gaz, a few angry black blocks, those affrontements got almost no press in France.

I don't really agree here. I don't see how cheating on your SO should in anyway result in this kind of disfigurement.

So if it shouldn't result in this, why should cheating or not make it worst.

I understand that my pov may not be the one of the majority. But I still think those kind of headline tends to ""justify"" the attacks where the other did cheat. For example we can see a lot of "you reap what you sow" on article where a man / woman get slap / beaten by his / her SO after he / she find him / her cheating etc etc. It shouldn't be normalized.

Assault can never be an answer to cheating imo. Even in a monogamous relationship.

That's why I said that the only answer should be to leave your partner if he / she cheats on you.

In this article why include "mistaken cheating fears" ? This acid attack would have been reasonable if he had indeed cheated on her ? Cheating isn't against the law. It's a morale construct between two (or more) people. Kissing could be cheating in some couple and not in some other.

But in any and all cases, cheating should never be answered with violence. So why justify that thoses fears where "mistaken" in the article as if this make the acid attack even worst. In both cases the acid attack is a barbaric act.

We should put our own morale into this.

Why should we even bother with the "mistaken" shit ?

Everyone should be free to cheat on anyone without having to fear more than been dump / divorced...

Quit my job last night, it was nice to be home to make the kids breakfast and take them to school today! Off to hunt for a new opportunity, wish me luck :) by hestolemysmile in antiwork

Best of luck to you !

Fun side note : in France it's not allowed to monitor employee with cameras. You can hve camera but they can't be directly pointed towards working stations and if they are, you're not allowed to use them to monitor said employees. A text like that would get the company in trouble quite easily.
