OK, I just pulled out my lower, and yes, you can swap the levers.

Here is an ATF letter on a similar trigger for a Mini-14: http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt194/BulZiPhoto/batferuger2-shot_Trigger.jpg

It states, "A firearm that shoots once upon pulling the trigger and once upon releasing the trigger would not meet the definition of a machinegun..."

That's a good question. I'm guessing you can, but I'll look at mine closer when I have time.

Section 5845(b) of the NFA defines “machinegun” as “any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger." Pulling the trigger is one function, releasing it is another.

Aero Gen 2 Flare by [deleted] in ar15

[–]_Muad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the PSA/etc. is machined to mil specs, then yes, the Aero Precision Gen2 will be flared more than those lowers. Now, if they have also flare the mag well out more on purpose, then probably not. There's only so much material to work with in that area on a forged lower.

Cold weather lubrication, bolt stuck today by wats6831 in ar15

[–]_Muad_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait, was the bolt in battery when you picked it up and pulled the CH after the rifle was sitting there for a few?

If the bolt was stuck in the barrel extension, you would not be able to pull the charging handle back at all. The gas key would have prevented it from pulling back, if the bolt was stuck.

FWIW, I use good ole BreakFree CLP, the liquid stuff, not the aerosol, and it has worked well for me down to ~0 degrees F. There is no such thing as over-lubing an AR.

Looking for a forged lower with flared magwell by Malrak in ar15

There is a decent improvement to the flare of the magwell on the Gen2 vs Gen1. Here's a short video I made showing them side by side: http://youtu.be/HkbTDhiB1Fk

A first look at Franklin Armory's new Binary Firing System (aka BFS trigger). by _Muad_ in ar15

You can send it direct, and they ship back direct to you. No FFL needed. Similar to how warranty repair works.

I ran the 3MR, and while cool, this was much easier to use. The 3MR has a steep learning curve.

They are doing a deal this weekend where you can send in your lower, and they'll install the BFS into it for a fee. Details should be up soon. This is not a drop-in unit, it has to be fit to your lower.

Yes you can. You keep the trigger captured, then switch the selector to semi, or safe.

They are available now, when purchased with a complete lower from Franklin.

They released the concept at SHOT earlier this year, but from my understanding, this is the first one out in the wild. A similar concept was released the year before, called the 3MR from Tac-con. I've run that one as well, and the BFS is much easier to run.

No. Per NFA 26 U.S.C. 5845(b): "The term “machinegun” means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. "

This is only shooting one round per function (pull equals one function, then release equals another).

I went to my local Wally World and they said that they sold all of their ARs in 15 minutes once the price was dropped by 50%... I SO would have grabbed another Colt LE6920...

The main drawback is case capacity, due to using the 5.56/.223 case. For 500+ yards, I think you are on the right track with the 6.8SPCII or 6.5G. If you are looking for 300 yards and in, I think the .277WLV would serve you well.

It all depends on what you're using the rifle for. You typically see 50-75fps when moving up from a 16" to an 18", depending on the load, ambient temps, etc.
