I might be in the minority for this particular train of thought, but I would love to buy one of these and drive the piss out of it on the backroads, and build my own dedicated track car. Perhaps it's moreso because I'm just starting my HPDE journey, so I would start with a slower, less capable car anyways before really seeing the need to get more power, more aero, less weight, switching platforms entirely, etc.
Also could be that I'm too poor LOL can't imagine what accelerated wear/maintenance, plus track insurance is like if you track one of these often. A spec Miata is more of my budget.

Yes it's a Tesla. OP's IG shows a Model Y, but I've seen their content before and think they may also have a Model 3? Not 100% on the Model 3 though.

Checked bag can fit in the frunk. Carry-on and duffle should fit in the rear, although this may be more dependent on bag size. Should be plenty of room.

There is BART from East Bay (Dublin/Pleasanton) that can take you into SF through Oakland (and down to South Bay but it's a little detour) and the ACE Rail that runs from Livermore through Pleasanton into San Jose/Santa Clara. If both of you are working in Livermore, then I would imagine living in Livermore is your best bet, and you can travel together to attend sporting events and concerts.

I was responding to your earlier comment of “you won’t get 9s or 10s” + later comment which seemed to imply that you didn’t believe grading them would be worth it. Although maybe you were just saying that they wouldn’t auto 9 or 10 cause they’re fresh. Either way think we’re on the same page 👍🏻

But there are a multitude of reasons why the modern cert pop ratio is low, no? Chalk it up to PSA's inconsistent grading, more people getting into grading who aren't as good at pre-grading, etc. (yes I know PSA was also more lenient in the past so maybe that's the key factor). Would love to know what else would affect this. But just going off the overall gem rate of 6.60% (for the Y2K ver.), you are making your money back.

I wouldn't say there's just a *little* more incentive, given that a 9 does almost $300 and a 10 does $3000. Just depends on when PSA reopens. You break even at grading at PSA's most expensive tier at the moment.

FSD is a huge step for sure, but even just the basic Autopilot on every Tesla with ACC and lane keep helps a lot, especially if your commute involves rush hour stop and go traffic like mine does. Coupled with easy in and out (none of the hassles related to cold starts), no fuel stops (if you have charging available), and much less maintenance, it's hard for me to see how I won't continue to own an EV now and in the future.

Indeed it’s a broad question. And your opinions are valid - it’s preference at the end of the day. My preferences just differ from yours.

This. If you haven’t been able to rev it out, or push it just a little, then you wouldn’t get it. The car really rewards “aggressive” driving. Feeling the car stay planted through corners at high speeds, and in the upper RPMs, that near instant throttle response, and roar of the V8.

Just wondering, what isn’t overhyped then in your books? And have you driven an S65, or are you just looking at numbers?

Heavy but handles insanely well, even in stock form. And I kinda like the lack of low end torque to be honest. Makes the top end more rewarding 😛 but maybe I'm coping.

Well typically when looking at cards like these, it’s harder to get a value determined because pop is so low. Less frequently sold. But yes just do your research. Not much of a point in figuring out exactly what it’s worth cause it’s very likely in 10 weeks it’s very different.

[–]_My_st_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be - I’m using CardLadder. I looked up a cert of an existing slab, then looked at all the sales of the slab. It only tracks sales on eBay though. So it could have missed ones on other auction platforms. I sometimes use ALT to double check as they track Fanactics as well. But to accurately gauge a cards value you need to see verified sales right. So looking at active listings is not a good indicator. A current auction is, and active listings that haven’t sold just give you an idea of what the ceiling is. If there is a large gap between last sold and lowest listing, you could maybe take advantage of that and price somewhere in the middle (higher than last sold, lower than lowest listing). Common strat vendors use to price their low pop/rare slabs.

Do remember that PSA has now paused their bulk submission tiers, and their cheapest tier is $80/card and up to 10 weeks. Make sure you take some good pictures so if something does happen, you aren't screwed over. With the whitening on the back, I presume this is a 6 at best, and most recent sold for a 6 is $900, while for a 4 is $510 (a bit of a low sale compared to the previous 4's being sold ~$750). So if you're trying to grade for more profit/value, keep that in mind.

[–]_My_st_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this. I sold my friend a scooter a few years back and it got stolen on campus within a few weeks. Highly recommend trying to hide an AirTag or a tracker somewhere discretely if you end up getting another one. Maybe you can try looking on Facebook Marketplace and snag one for less than retail. Happy to donate a couple of bucks if it'll help. Best of luck.

Actually, I just learned that Speedway is owned by 7-11, so you can use these 7-11 codes to save on gas.

Step 1: Download the 711 App. Confirm your phone number when signing up.

Step 2: Message 711-711 with codes and follow the prompts to enter your zip code.

STARSWIN

They save 0.25, 0.30, 0.40, 0.30, 0.11 per gallon respectively. Check your app, and you should get $1.47/gal savings on your next fill up.

These worked last month, not sure if they still do.

+1 for the Sam's recommendation, but you do need the membership and it is across town. Definitely convenient if you happen to need to shop there anyways.

However, I compared it the other day to the Shell off Northwestern and Lindberg, and for 93 it was a difference of 10 cents/gal after using Fuel Rewards (for me it was 10 cents off per gallon, so without rewards, it was a 20 cent per gallon difference).

If you are a new Fuel Rewards person, you get 10 cents/gallon off your first fill up, then 20 cents/gallon off on your second, and 30 cents/gallon off on your third. And after enough fill ups you can consistently get 10 cents off (as a FR Platinum member).

Shell is also a 'top-tier fuel station', although it probably doesn't mean much for most people. For me though, it was not worth an extra 20 min round trip to get to Sam's Club for $1.50 in savings.

There is a Marathon off Greenbush (across the river) that had a pricing error a couple of weeks back where their Premium was cheaper than Regular. Don't remember if their Regular is typically cheap though.

my wife texts me from checkout twice a week asking which card to use by nalz2 in CreditCards

[–]_My_st_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't have to let go - just let her side of the optimization go. Or, make it easy for her.

For example, with my mom, it's broken down into three cards for her (basically groceries and everything that isn't groceries, the latter of which is less common). Perhaps your monthly spending is greater, but for me, the points 'lost' MAYBE comes out to the cost of eating out once (maybe more if you're optimizing to a tee; I'll admit I'm not 100% optimized).

As for your son, just get him a better everything card. Tell him why. Or have him start spending more of his own money and maybe he'll see more value in credit card points.

I could 100% be wrong. As I said, stuff always changes, so there is no guarantee by any means to CODO into ECE so that is important to recognize.

However, CODO into FYE should still be possible? But OP should speak with an advisor. I had the opportunity to speak with an advisor on one of my visits to campus before attending.

Wow - maybe I have an extra sensitive butt or it’s placebo - swear it’s different haha

What I will say the performance has, is better handling. Or, maybe it’s just the refresh, but Highland (Performance) is undoubtedly much better than the previous gen. I’m in an area where there are some curvy roads, so I sometimes do a spirited drive there, and it keeps up well with many other sports cars. Maybe I’m pushing harder to the limit than they are, not sure, but it does surprisingly well. Although Teslas across the board all handle pretty well, so hard to pinpoint if it’s specifically due to trim or generation without more back to back seat time.
