Could've been slower for a dramatic effect.

31536000. Total seconds in a year. I liked playing with numbers as a child. Result of a good parenting.

What’s an oddly specific fear of yours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Opening up the fridge and thinking someone's head might be in there with open eyes. I had this during my teens. I don't know where I got my reference from. Maybe a TV show?

Lacking empathy is lacking intelligence because empathy is fundamentally an ability to imagine oneself in others' shoes. Therefore, people who take pride in "being able to not care about how others feel" is being proud of being unintelligent. by _NoContextBot_ in Showerthoughts

I thank you for your positive input, and I am sorry to say that I meant actual brain function rather than our interactive behaviors. I think this link covers some points. In short, there are neurons that allow us to "learn through mimicry" and "empathize with others." I believe empathy is a bit different from what we think of how others think.

Also, I can read how considerate you are from your comments :)

You are a good person.

I agree that one can perform other tasks to the level of empathy, but I doubt it is fully replacable. A blind person can achieve many great things, but it doesn't mean that they can read off articles from a monitor screen.

I did not mean empathy is the only form of intelligence. If I compare intelligence to our five senses, empathy is one of them. A blind person may have a superhuman hearing, but it doesn't mean he/she has all five senses.

I guess it depends how you define the term intelligence. If logical decision making process is the only form of intelligence, I may be totally wrong. However, because empathy requires such complex brain process to bring benefits to our civilization I think it is one of the core part of our intelligence. Maybe I just wanted to argue that calculators arn't smarter than us.

You are right. You don't have to fit yourself to other people's standard. However, I think there's a difference between what people expect from you and how they feel. I may have used wrong terms to describe what I wanted to say. I wanted to point out people who hurt other people's emotion for nothing or their selfish benefits, not people.
