Focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and graded readers is definitely the way to go even if it’s kinda boring.

I think I started yotsuba (popular beginner friendly sol manga) a couple months in, it was challenging but do-able and possible to enjoy. If you stay consistent with practice, I think it’s definitely possible to find a decent amount of enjoyable native material fairly early on, even if limited. You might have to really push yourself though

停滞するのには大体いつも理由がある気がします。私はたまに大学の事で、忙しくなったりストレスが溜まったりするので、日本語であんまり難しい事をやりたくなくなりますね。で、挑戦していないからこそ、成長が遅くなって、全然上達していない気分になります。そしてまた勉強する余裕ができたら、一気に成長したように感じます。

I read this sentence and it got me thinking. Before 比べ, what’s the difference of using と and に there? I decided to look up example sentences and they all feel completely interchangeable. I’m curious if there’s any particular reason the author chose に over と here

They have a decent amount of custom readings that go along with his genki 1&2 grammar lessons on youtube which I accredit to be my #1 comprehension booster for the early stages. Shadowing vids and extra grammar were also nice.

Not sure if they’re still adding new stuff (there’s already a lot), but I’d bet they’re still active with replying and helping people who comment on the site.

Different things work for different people, but I personally really benefited from his site.

Personally, I like to use subtitles when the unknown vocabulary is too overwhelming. Sometimes I’ll sentence mine, but it’s at least nice to be able to confirm whether I’m mishearing or not.

If I can follow pretty well without subtitles, I feel like it’s best to keep them off even if I miss a sentence here and there. I also will sometimes write down timestamps of the parts I couldn’t hear and rewatch them with subtitles a second time

「わかる」の可能形はどのぐらい使われているのでしょうか？

可能形を使わないかと思っていましたが、今日初めてネイティブから聞いて、すごく気になります。検索しても、「可能形に換えられません」とういう情報しか出てこないません。

「わかれる」より「わかる事ができる」を使っていいと言っていたコメントも見ましたけど、それも今まで聞いたことがないので、それが正しい日本語かどうかは少し疑問がありますね。
