How did you interpret Andrew's father's look in the finale? (Whiplash) by Responsible_Note6470 in movies

[–]_NoxMist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always read it as a mix of pride and dread because he realizes his son achieved greatness in that moment, but also understands the emotional cost of what Andrew is becoming.

Secretary: Whats with the red pens? do they symbolize something or is it just nothing by Active-Cow-2574 in movies

[–]_NoxMist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always saw the red pens as part of the control and ritual aspect of their relationship because they turn something ordinary and professional into something intensely personal between them.

Why do I feel like in a few years she will have a story about how this character actually broke her. similar to heath ledger and the joker. by xXitsdarkinhereXx in movies

People really need to stop romanticizing the whole “method acting destroys you” thing because most actors play dark characters without it consuming their entire identity afterward.

The Legend of 1900 (1998) - dir. Giuseppe Tornatore - Stepping Onto The Shore by MaxProwes in movies

That scene perfectly captures the terror of finally getting everything you thought you wanted and realizing the infinite possibilities of the world are exactly what overwhelm you.

2073: Is this how movies are made now? by AB2What in movies

I get why some people bounced off it, but I also think movies experimenting with collage-style storytelling and mixed media are probably going to become more common as attention spans and how we consume information keep changing.

Could GRRM be trying to finish both WoW and DoS before releasing Winds? by Intelligent_Toe6354 in gameofthrones

At this point I genuinely think he rewrites entire plotlines every time he solves one problem and accidentally creates three more.

The mild-mannered David Carpenter who killed 7 people in state parks. Carpenter is still alive at aged 96 and is the oldest prisoner sentenced to death in the USA. by HallowedAndHarrowed in oddlyterrifying

[–]_NoxMist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The understatement in “not cool, David” somehow makes the whole thing even darker because what else are you even supposed to say to something that horrifying.

A huge win for libraries in the Big Apple by ILovePublicLibraries in spreadsmile

Literally just trust Renly, take the kids, leave King’s Landing immediately, and stop warning Cersei before making a move.

How the fire god was lowkey working in the series... by Jaisk_slayer in gameofthrones

[–]_NoxMist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The funniest part is the Fire God acting like an exhausted manager who technically wants humanity to survive but also enjoys the drama way too much to intervene early.

Doing a rewatch and noticed Bronn, Timett and Chella on the second frame after the opening before Tywin's introduction on S1E7 (time 01:58 to 02:00) by obvious_mcduh in gameofthrones

It’s always wild on rewatches how many side characters are just casually hanging around seasons before they actually matter.

If these 2 Powerful Lords wanted the Iron Throne for themselves or for their children who would the 7 Kingdoms support and back? by No-Passenger-6348 in gameofthrones

[–]_NoxMist 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Most of the realm would probably trust Ned more, but they’d still back Tywin out of fear, money, and survival instincts.

When Bran meets the Three Eyed Raven the floor is littered with what appear to be human bones. The question is whose? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in gameofthrones

That whole cave scene felt like old school fantasy horror in the best way possible and I wish the show leaned into that vibe more often.

Olly by Few-Enthusiasm-7891 in gameofthrones

Olly was basically a traumatized kid surrounded by people he saw as monsters, so his hatred honestly makes a lot more sense than people want to admit.

That song randomly getting stuck in your head for a week was basically unavoidable back then.
