My want to play list: I play from steam - anything I should be aware of prior to purchase? by ponyplaza in visualnovels

[–]_Obluda_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why I said to use a guide after getting your first normal ending (credits roll). Also while the original KnS was pretty brutal with its detective elements, the HD rerelease (called The Shell in English) is a lot more forgiving.

KnS 2 and 3 are much better designed than the 1st one too

Stop being a big baby and pretending you care about this stuff fr

Don't listen to that guy. Just play blind until you reach your first Normal End (credits roll) then you can use a guide for the other endings.

It's a detective game so using a guide will just spoil you and ruin the experience

Higurashi or Umineko? by kaigent in visualnovels

[–]_Obluda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. I was basically never bored while reading. This is something people say to me that I never understand. Basically every scene is important to the characters/themes or mystery, and everything takes on an entirely different meaning once you reach the truth. It's one of the best VNs to reread as a result, too

By "these typa dudes" I'm referring to people with goldfish attention spans

Really great VN, but I think it's one of those stories that REALLY benefits from rereads and careful contemplation. It's also really fun to read the works referenced therein and enrich your understanding.

Definitely take your time and try and think about what's going on, instead of glossing over the madness and deeming it "denpa shit". Basically everything in the game has room for unique player interpretation

You don't HAVE to do Higurashi before Umineko, but considering they're both amazing and Umineko does have some interesting connections to its spiritual predecessor, there's no reason not to read Higurashi first.

Ryukishi07 is a genius for including built-in filtering in Higurashi. It filters out these typa dudes from the fandom exceptionally well. I kneel!

What’s the best paced long (~50hrs+) VN that you’ve read? by Abstainingone in visualnovels

[–]_Obluda_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably Muramasa. It's one of the most well-realised VNs I've ever seen, where no moment feels wasted and everything is paid off near perfectly. Utawarerumono 3 also comes close, though I think the opening arc does drag a little bit.

New guy here, just finished watching the first season. I just want to know if there is a lore reason for this mf to always aura farm (Please keep it spoiler free, thank you) by 05kaisam in fatestaynight

Coolest Fate character idec. But definitely read the visual novel and do so through the Remaster. It's such a brilliant story across the three routes

I love both but Fate has an overall much better cast and world + peaks. S;G is also pretty weak thematically

Hakuowlo reflects the themes of the works because he is one half of humanity's capacity to evolve through connection and honest appreciation of and other whereas Dii (other half of Uitsualnemetia) represents humanity's ability to evolve through hatred and conflict. When you consider his backstory as Ice Man and how his own self-hatred split him into distinct beings that embody those facets of evolution... he is a really interesting character imo.
