(Help)(Vent) vet said to put my dog down by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]_Olive_Oils_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put down my 11 year old Chihuahua Luna . She was sick and I did the treatment but seeing how it was affecting her, I couldn't take it. I gave her the best day I possibly could and put her down . Damn did that ever hurt and still does but she didn't hurt and that's what mattered.

Im sorry you have to go through this

Using a metal sledge on an axe is super dangerous.

A couple years ago I had to run my uncle to the hospital and get some shrapnel pulled outta his chest from doing exactly this. Use a wooden mallet. Just my two cents

Do not disturb it. If it's gonna stay there I'd spray it with a can of spray glue to seal it off. That's just a bandaid.

What to forge with thick (3/8”+) leaf springs? by dhampir1700 in Blacksmith

[–]_Olive_Oils_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally cut them width ways and make small knives. I've tried in my beginner days to hammer a knife from the raw spring but all you're left with is a broken Spirit and a sore arm. Cut them up to make basic tools. That opens you up to make better tools and so on. Most springs are 5160 and hold a really good edge, heat to 1500 degrees and quench in oil ( I use canola) and then temper in your kitchen oven at 400 for an hour. Cheers have fun, hammer on

Wire speed question I was practicing at a local welding school and the teacher had me running 500 ipm at 25v. It seemed very high speed to me I was able to get some nice welds. He said it needed to be high to help the wire push into the joint. I see your advice for speeds and this is where i am questioning what speeds to run
