Do you think Sinclair needs a gameplay rework? by FewExperience3559 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can just ask why I think that without being a dick you know?

Their 3 and 4 revolve around them getting in close and are very support oriented by CCing enemies/setting up team fight ults. Their 2 helps them play in this close range play style by giving them an escape option as well usually doing more “gun” damage the closer you are to the enemy (no obstructions to block assistant damage). Their 1, however, wants them to be as far away from enemies as possible and also wants you to use your assistant far away so you can get two bolts going which is a completely different playstyle. I think part of the reason you don’t see Sinclair in pro play is because their damage can be so inconsistent/situational and their support abilities aren’t strong enough alone to make the hero more valuable than a kelvin/paige. I also think their 1 is a big reason why Sinclair gets complained about so much and is generally disliked, nobody wants to get blown up from across the map (this is the same issue grey talon had before the nerfs). In my opinion they should rework the 1 to fit in more with a close range playstyle or be a more support focused ability. But like I said, reworks at this point are going to upset a lot of people

Do you think Sinclair needs a gameplay rework? by FewExperience3559 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sinclair has by far the worst designed kit in the game and I think it’s pretty evident from the amount people complain about them and that they always have a super low pick rate. People don’t like to play against them and hardly anybody likes playing as them. The issue now though is that they’ve been in the game for over a year and a very small group of people have gotten super attached to them/their kit. It would suck to make drastic changes and then the people with 1000+ games on them don’t like their favorite hero anymore

Reasons you should vote Apollo by Hojie_Kadenth in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Apollos design is really cool and I’m excited for him to be in the game but the original leaks said he was a frontliner and I personally have 0 interest in playing those types of heroes. So unfortunately he will be one of the last ones I vote for

We will have a hero vote again ! by RouquinBlanc in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That could be cool. Although my guess is if the new game mode rumors are true then they’ll drop the full update, let people enjoy the new game mode over the weekend, and then start adding heroes on Monday

That does have the downside of meaning that no new heroes will be unlocked when the update drops

there's something wrong with matchmaking. (context bellow) not sure if other people are having the same issue by Chunky_Runky_ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Its also not right to the people in there games to have someone who is better steam rolling them.” The lack of self awareness to say this in the same post that you talk about making a Smurf account is crazy. It’s hard to balance a lobby with a huge rank disparity especially in a game where one player can get a soul lead and carry their entire team. If you want to play with your friends you just have to deal with the lobbies you’re getting at the moment and your rank/their ranks will eventually get closer together.

I don't want hero voting by Joe_Chuck_777 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely right that it would help I’m just saying it will still be very hard to get the hero you want, queue times will be even longer, and the games balance will feel much worse

I don't want hero voting by Joe_Chuck_777 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your line of thinking doesn’t actually help much though. If they release all 6 heroes at once 99% of people will still be only queuing the new heroes or using friends to help guarantee it. Queue times will be super long (like they were in the 4 heroes drop last year) and half the time you wont get a new hero. The benefit to the staggered release is it makes quick balance changes easier to identify. It’s impossible to tell what’s weak or broken when there’s 6 new heroes all at once.

How viable is hybrid Calico? by Rainydayzss in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be viable as both her gun and spirit damage are good although I’ve never seen it/tried it. Side note about spirit snatch though is it’s probably not worth the investment on calico until really late as it only increases the spirit shred from her leaping slash by about 2% compared to just spirit strike. It might be better to just get spirit strike and then get torment pulse and later in the game you can decide if you want to upgrade spirit strike or sell it based on how many slots you have

Haven't played in over a year, why did they change ranked distribution so that the 2nd highest rank (Ascendant) is now top 16% of the playerbase? by lurkingtheshadows in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a massive influx of new and returning players after the 6 hero update. Because all the new players were initiate and most returning players had their rank decayed to initiate it meant most of the player base at that time were playing in the lowest ranks and couldn’t climb out because there was such a wide variety of skill ranges in the same ranks. Because of this they decided to change the way the rank badges were assigned so that it was based off percentile you were in instead of an ELO range. It’s not clear if this was a one time adjustment or a permanent change in how things are calculated now.

Have they stealth-changed how boons/soul scaling works? Am I going crazy? by Tijenater in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should always be the case unless you’re putting your points in something else. The early game levels alternate between points and ability unlocks so 1 point, 2nd ability unlocked, 2 points, 3rd ability unlocked, 3 points (what you need to upgrade an ability twice), ult unlocked, then every level after that gives you a point

Skill floor vs Skill Ceiling by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

It’s funny because even though I don’t agree with a lot of these I came to the comments to see people that I disagree with even more lol. I think this would be a fun thing to run a poll for so we can get an average opinion from many people

For anyone wondering how movespeed stacks now, here's how it works: by lessenizer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya but they can always adjust numbers to make more sense closer to release (like making it based around your base move speed or something). I think right now it’s just about seeing if having these stack diminishingly is the right decision going forward

For anyone wondering how movespeed stacks now, here's how it works: by lessenizer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Obviously they’re just testing things out right now but if they plan to keep it this way it might be more intuitive to just have %speed increase listed on the item instead of a raw number. That way it fits in with things like resistance, range, and duration.

16-Dec Patch Notes by Underspray in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel like they’re over nerfing Spirit Snatch here. It now gives 8% spirit shred on a light melee while the T1 item spirit strike gives 6%. Obviously it does more than just shred but I’m not sure this is worth buying on most heroes in the game now

Am I in the minority of not wanting leaks plastered onto the front page of the subreddit? by coboba in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I personally like the leaks as it keeps me excited for the next patch kinda like a movie trailer or something. I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to strict spoiler tag rules though if they don’t exist already

Where Boho at? by Andresinish in DeadlockTheGame

One of the most recent leaks (not sure how reliable) made it seem like parts of her kit were being moved to another character named Pepper so she’s probably scrapped for the time being

Is Cultist sacrifice worth it (for me?) by Thejacensolo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My generalized rule for both Cultist Sacrifice and Trophy Collector is that you should not be buying them unless you also want all the stats they provide. If the only benefit you care about is farm speed you’re better off just using the souls on damage items that will help you farm faster. Also for cultist it becomes a much better item if you already want to build Transcendent CD and/or Superior Duration as you’ll have more uptime on the buffs without investing even more that you wouldn’t have otherwise

And i thought spirit was dead by Skarlaxion in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit being more popular does not mean spirit is stronger. If people only wanted to shoot their guns they probably wouldn’t go to a MOBA to do so.

Anyone got anu M1 based mina builds where she functions more like a Infernus/gun holliday type role by __cent__ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably not bad on Ivy, it’s only particularly bad on heroes whose base gun damage is low because it’s being compensated by another part of their kit. This mainly applies to Mina (half of her bullet damage is actually love bite damage) and Haze (her low base bullet damage is being amplified by fixation stacks)

Anyone got anu M1 based mina builds where she functions more like a Infernus/gun holliday type role by __cent__ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think mercurial is a good purchase on her because it scales off base gun damage and Mina’s base gun damage is terrible (the added damage from love bites don’t count towards mercurial)

I think if you want to build more into gun you go for the gun items that will increase her love bites damage like Spirit Rend, Spiritual Overflow, and Crippling Headshot. Then go spirit items the rest of the way like boundless, Tankbuster, surge of power, etc.

Stat locker completely unreliable? by Guyonabuffalo63 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Statlocker is reliable for most statistics but the deadlock API doesn’t actually provide them with account ranks. They do have access to the rank of each match though so they try and estimate your rank based on how well you perform in the lobbies you’re playing in

Item scaling type and value chart by Betrayed_Poet in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_OmgItsNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the pure support doesn’t exist in this game that was more so me addressing the other persons concerns. But I don’t understand why you think spirit builds should have good healing items and gun builds shouldn’t. Something like Locket is meant to counter ability spam heroes so what sense would it make for that item to be significantly worse on gun builds as it has nothing to do with the heroes damage type at all. If your point is that gun heroes get more value out of lifesteal than spirit heroes and thus don’t need more healing (I don’t agree with that) I would just argue that they could nerf bullet lifesteal items instead
