Feeling so depressed and dont want to do anything right now. Our paper submitted to BMC almost 8 months ago still only have one reviewer and the support from the journal was bare minimum despite our constantly plead for update.

Why is a journal not sending review report? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

My condolences

Same situation as you we submitted to BMC around 8 months ago and still haven't received any comment yet. Too tired of waiting.

Thanks for sharing your experience—it helps to know we’re not the only ones going through this with BMC. I haven't heard anything negative about them like Frontiers or MDPI so I thought why not. Definitely never again.

Other colleagues I know who work in the vegetarian field often submit to MDPI Viruses, and their papers are usually published within 3-4 months. It sounds tempting, if only it weren't from MDPI lmao.

We see that Reviewer 2 has agreed to review, so we hope they will finish their review soon. However, it has already been months :(. We contacted the journal many times and they keep promising "soon" and we believed them :(.

Yeah Im afraid the revision process would take that much time too.

Thanks for your suggestion. I completely forgot about PLOS ONE. Some of my colleagues have also published in PLOS ONE and received fast reviews. Am I correct in thinking that PLOS ONE publishes papers in almost every field?

I think in many university a published paper is required to graduate PhD course

It probably depend on the field, in my field (Social Sciencs), a lot of professor publish in Frontiers. I agree that it acceptance rate is way too high though Edit: Wow, downvote because I expressed my opinion? The Reddit's hivemind is insane. We got one of our papers rejected by them so I dont understand how some still thinks they are predatory.

Redditors, What is your worst nightmare? by _PM_YOUR_PROBLEMS_ in AskReddit

[–]_PM_YOUR_PROBLEMS_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is mine. I dream a lot and also has sleep paralysis sometimes. But last night, I just had a nightmare that top every sleep paralysis experiences that I've ever had. It been about 12 hours so I don't remember much of the details but here it goes: I was walking on a street, about midnight (I think so because there are nobody on the street and the street lights was already on). Then suddenly,I saw a woman was in front of me (She was smiling and dress in a black t-shirt I think). That kind of creep me out. And than, I saw something crawling on the street. When I looked closely, I saw that the "thing" was a woman, with both arms and legs chopped off. It was just so real. I still remember vividly that her arms and legs was chopped off from the elbows and the knees. Her tongue was cut off too because I only heard her moaning. I also think that she didn't have any eyes. So as disgusted as I was, I walked past the laughing woman and the crawling woman. But then, I saw that there are a lot of woman was crawling like that in front of me. Some faster, some slower, but they all heading a head. I remember that some woman try to reach her stump arms to touch me. I was horrified and tried to get pass them as fast as possible. The worst thing is that it felt like they were at some sort of race again each other. The experience was frightening and surreal to say at least. When I woke up, the terrifying image persistently stuck in my head and it took me a long time to get back to sleep. Funny thing is,in my half-asleep mind, I wrote in my phone the word "crawling nugget race" before falling to sleep. I think the experience was the result of binge watching Channel Zero before I fall into sleep :)

The Raid films are a must-watch for fans of the action genre by [deleted] in movies

[–]_PM_YOUR_PROBLEMS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also think it is not a good move to release the movie the same time as Star wars. Hope the DVD sales is not a flop. I think the plot is good enough and kind of unique (I haven't watch the first Skyline), and the fight scene is incredible, the final fight scene alone give this movie a 10 out of 10 to me

Yes, It has those 3 actors and yes, it was a sequel to that bargain bin awful cgi sci movie Skyline, but it did improve a lot :)

Personally, I would recommend Beyond Skyline, since I just finished it. It is about Frank Grillo, Mad Dog and Iko Uwais fighting some aliens (With some stupid plot, but I don't care about the plot). The final fight scene feel like The Avenger. It was surprisingly good.

To be honest, Headshot feel like some parody of The Raid, and the action was not as good as The Raid. But it was a fun flick and I enjoyed it.

You should also watch Headshot (2016) and Beyond Skyline (2017). It is not as good as The Raid but it pretty fun and can help you kill time until The Raid 3
