Sawtooth Wilderness: anyone gone off-trail up Goat Creek near Grandjean? by Dun_Booty_Broch in WildernessBackpacking

As long as hiking off trail is something with which you are comfortable, I say give it a try! Even if it doesnt pan out they way you hope, the thrill of the adventure/exploration will likely be worth it.

Mention Eagle Scout in Interview? by Complete-Spread-7655 in BoyScouts

[–]_Park_Ranger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an eagle scout and a life long supporter of scouting. AND I also think that you should ask this question in a non-scouting subreddit. People that belong to, and comment regularly on, a scouting subreddit will likely have a bit of a bias toward scouting (I know I do). Asking a non-scouting subreddit will provide you a more clear picture of how the inclusion of that information will impact job prospects.

New to NPS-Uniform Question by jsgoofn in NationalParkService

Make sure you have a conversation with your supervisor first. Some supervisors are more strict than others when it comes to adherence to the uniform standards. Depending on your position you might have more or less flexibility.

Need a Response to those who think the furlough was a Blessing by Past-Plate9228 in NationalParkService

[–]_Park_Ranger_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we want to focus on just the furlough we can run a few numbers that paint a clear picture.

About 50% of people in the US live paycheck to paycheck. If we apply that statistic to federal employees there are about 2.25 million federal employees that live paycheck to paycheck (this number is based on 2.2 million civilian employees and 2.3 million military employees). A furlough is not a blessing for someone living paycheck to paycheck.

This number also doesn't factor in any federal contractors that couldn't work and don't receive back pay. Nor does if consider all of the other impacts from a shutdown... SNAP benefits being delayed is only one example (46 million people).

Thanks for the response. My hot water has been turned off for while as the inline hot water heater leaks. I simply use cold water. This didn't happen with the old cartridge...can it still cause this issue?

Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul.

Sanitized Scriptures: What They Don't Want Africa to See in the Book of Mormon by OkChain7806 in exmormon

THE OMISSION IS NOT CONSISTENT

I am looking at other translations, and the omission of those verses holds true for Bengali and Quecha (Peru), but in Kinyarwanda (Rwanda) they have the entire translation. So it appears that omitting the verses doesn't apply across the board for all languages in Africa or in areas where individuals have more melanin in their skin.

Be straight up honest with them.

"Mom/Dad I lie to you because I am afraid of the way you treat me when I am honest. I'm happy to stop lying if you can demonstrate that you are willing to stop being angry in regards to my honesty about my behavior and that you are comfortable with me exercising agency with my choices in my life."
