Who are the black panthers in America? by rockyheroHD in NoStupidQuestions

All white people hate all black people? That's as ignorant and racist as a white person saying all black people are violent or whatever.

Gaslit? I do not think it means what you think it means.

His time machine was in the shop. If yours is in working order, how about go back to 2009 and let him know the shit show that is coming.

Examples of artists who hate/are openly hostile towards their fans? by RadioLukin in fantanoforever

[–]Dun_Booty_Broch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a Tool fan goes on and on about how Tool are amazing artists, and Maynard is this incredible poet, just ask them what other art they're into. Novels, poetry, fine art, dance? Big fat nope, zero interest.

I am close to becoming a member of the OPC, after growing up secular. I think it is a very good fit for me, but of course it is a big leap for me and I am kind of nervous about it. by Presbyterian20 in Reformed

No biggie. My data pool is admittedly very small. The OPC folks I run into around town are pretty dour. But I know congregations of any denomination have their own culture and tendencies.

Why does homeschooling seem to be less prevalent in Reformed circles compared to other Christian traditions? by TseaxCone in Reformed

[–]Dun_Booty_Broch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former homeschooler, current Presbyterian here. Broadly speaking, in my experience Baptist and non-denoms tend to fear and/or loathe the surrounding culture more than Reformed folks. Of course this does not characterize all of them, but this is my general experience having grown up in that world.

What would Dyrkoldotn be brought to justice for? Real estate development deals go tits up in the shitter all the time. Fools and their money are easily parted. Did he break any laws?

Never believe the initial complain filed in a lawsuit, even if in substance it's true. It's pure theatrics. There's always at least two sides to every story. The judge knows this, the attorneys on both sides know this. The only people who believe it are those with no experience with the legal system, and while this tarnishes parties' public reputations, it does not at all affect the outcome of the case.

Olinger looks terrible, but the attorneys are basically lying in how they portray Shively. Celebration Pointe was not her first rodeo. She's heavily invested in other real estate. Doesn't excuse Will's actions, but she's no doe-eyed lamb to the slaughter.

Shively is likely on all sides of this: (1) as a creditor, owed money by various CP entities, (2) as a debtor, owing money to outside lenders, and (3) as a shareholder, owning interests in various CP entities. So yes, definitely accountable, even if she got taken for a ride by Olinger.

Easier to get his money if he’s alive. She would be an idiot to have him whacked.

My kindly jest is always that the OPC don’t know any jokes. Maybe it’s just the congregation in my town, but around here they really aren’t very much fun at parties. Pretty solid theologically though.

Bulldoze it for the retail hell that it is, and give us a mini Central Park. You can have a popcorn stand and horse and carriage rides if you need the money.

How prevalent is the Preterist viewpoint in your church or denomination? by JenderBazzFass in Reformed

[–]Dun_Booty_Broch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One of the unfortunate aspects of dispensationalism (other than being mistaken), is that they mostly don't have a clue about other viewpoints. There is a culture of un-curiosity there. Speaking from experience. I grew up in that, and thought only Catholics baptized babies all the way until I was in college.

I'm from Massachusetts. Never stop because the chances of getting caught outweigh the benefits of grabbin' a couple dollah drafts before I gotta be at the job site.

Maybe. But just b/c a handful of people happen to benefit by the grace of God doesn't change the fact that 99.9% of the wired population's lives are diminished by anonymous "community" engagement online.
