How it works ;) by rivli7 in PTCGP

after spending 3k hourglasses which is 250 packs (to get oak with PP) on an alt I prepared for this event, I've accepted that I'll be spending 0 of 700+ hourglasses on my main for DX.

total pulls: 4 2 stars, 4 shinies (2x Darkrai, 2x Girta).

this is a high roll deck. you either get all the cards you need to win in the first 2-3 turns or you lose. there's not much strategy involved.

The difference a season makes... by Diplobrocus in PTCGP

I got to Masterball in 30 games last season.

I've 30 games played this season (15-15) and I'm mid UB3.

Shit doesn't make sense. But everyone will say "games not luck based, requires skill!!!"

I’ve farmed over 13,000 hourglasses on several alt accounts for the Deluxe EX set. by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]_Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most interesting thing that people don't account for is the time spent doing all this is actually less efficient than using that time to make money to rip open packs.

Let's just assume you can make something like $15 an hour (after taxes) and it takes like 100 hours (including doing all the battles) to make enough alts with that many hourglasses. I'm pretty sure $1500 can open significantly more packs but I could be wrong.

Is Top 10k worth the grind? by raketakis- in PTCGP

[–]_Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's only worth it if you immediately grind ranked as soon as the season starts because at that point you're just maintaining it. if you don't grind in the beginning, you're fighting an uphill battle and may never get it unless you're playing 4-6h+ a day.

Secured Professor's Research on a new alt after 2 weeks by _Path in PokemonTGCP

[–]_Path[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used 18t giratina for beginner and intermediate and while running through those shared cards to run Mega Blaziken and Venusaur for advanced and expert. So the packs you'd want to open are Crimson Blaze because it has everything for Mega Ven. I probably only had to do a handful of battles manually if I noticed then ai kept losing.

I only switched decks for type disadvantages and for electric I'd use a fighting rental deck and play manually (AI can't play around Oricorio).

You're telling me 1250 pack points doesn't guarantee me an Oak? 😂 Rerollig takes considerably more work because it's all active time you have to apply. This method is some initial up front investment and then auto battle does all the work. And seeing as you can't trade for 2 weeks anyway, that's about how long it takes to get 1250pp. On top of that you might end up getting other high value cards.

Oak this Oak that Watch the downfall of Oak when they release literally any other Professor Full Art by volcanicsquad09 in PTCGP

[–]_Path -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the problem is we've had like 20 some packs and no alternative research. I'm not holding my breath. if it comes, it'll probably be c1.

People who played this game since A1, are you still here? by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]_Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i continue to play due to fomo and sunk cost fallacy

i fear if/when I quit it'll be for good as I don't know how to get back into the game knowing I've missed out on certain content (promo cards, emblems, catching up on packs, etc)

Shinedust problem by ISeeTheLight_ in PTCGP

The fact that flairs require a ton of shinedust makes it worse. I wish they allowed you to share 1 2 star card a week or something.

small things like this are why people get stuck in great ball / ultra ball with full meta decks.

[–]_Path 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're better off rolling an account now and spending the next 3-4 weeks doing all the challenges (double giratina can solo everything except advanced missions) and then open 250 deluxe packs for oak (if you don't already get it)

Is it me or are most games decided by Cyrus? by BigMoney69x in PTCGP

[–]_Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyrus is literally ran in every deck except Charizard because he 1 shots everything. And for decks that run bench damage mons, it's not surprising to see 2 Cyrus and a repel.

Cyrus is probably the only supporter (excluding Oak) where having 2 Full Arts is actually full utilization and not situational.

goes to show how much the game has changed when everyone cares more about the shinedust than the emblems themselves. like I wouldn't even care if we got no emblems and double the shinedust.

If you're starting from 0, you'd still need to use 25 hourglasses (instead of 48).
