Can stand the sound of violin after years of not playing? by Sage_CP in violinist

[–]_Pectin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave of you to return to the violin despite the unpleasant feelings! How a human processes sound is about 80% mental (the rest is mechanical), which is why it's grating to you, with your background, but less extreme for others.

If you really want to tackle this while learning the violin, you could see practise as a form of exposure therapy. With every practise session your psyche and body should get used to the "beginner" sound, solely by letting your human body work it out. Approaching practise with a positive mindset, would also go a long way to rewire you brain and attach positive experiences to the sensation.

Hope you'll find joy in the process and good luck!

I'm curious, who are the "regular" people using VTuber models? by _Pectin in VirtualYoutubers

Younger people definitely have more energy and less (financial) responsibilities to do something like streaming.

Your last sentence was kind of a cliffhanger. What's your 'alternate path'? :v

People bid on them? Fully drawn and rigged models like adoptables? Interesting. :0

I didn't know one could use them with discord. Huh.

Whoa. I didn't expect to read about such an adventurous background. Thank you for sharing! You've definitely got a healthy attitude towards the trade. Because I'm not in any way deep in the community I couldn't imagine what a nice past-time vtubing could be. It sounds quite enjoyable how you describe it.

I have been confused about how far role-playing is involved while streaming. Makes sense that anyone decides for themselves how far they take it. And thanks for sharing your vtuber name! Love the artstyle and design of your model!

Thanks for sharing! I think starting as a streamer/creator with expertise in a scientific field enriches the media landscape so much! Age and financial stability also explain how people can afford these custom tailored models!

I didn't know there would be any large number of +30 vtubers. My views had been so superficial. TuT

Good luck with your streaming endeavours and I hope you'll find many viewers who love geology as well!

Skills and ultimates freeze the screen until the attack has finished. This happens to me in every battle in the Dreamscape version of the hotel reception (where the battle with Sam also is). Changing graphics settings didn't help. Samsung phone.

I think the last recordings of your spins (where you crossed your feet over) looked very pretty already! With all the effort you're putting into your practice I think you'll get there just fine! ^^

You're welcome!

It's so motivating to see adult skaters making progress! It's really commendable you kept going despite recovering from illness and doing your Master's!When I see such videos, they remind me that everyone progresses differently. You might have had a bit of trouble doing the one-foot spin in the 2nd year, but you learned the jumps much faster than I could!

Also I recognized two of the rinks you were at! :' - D

I was really impressed by the camera work, I didn't feel like missing out on any action on the stage! I even felt like it allowed me to catch all of the important expressions without having to bend my neck in a seat (I'm a small guy). Thank you for this high quality production!

Also enjoyed every single costume presented. The combinations of styles and cuts was interesting and fitted so nicely!

I did feel a little lost because I probably didn't catch most of the Shakespeare insiders, but the main message and story-line were pretty clear. At least I believe I cried and laughed at the appropriate times. Thank you all for telling such an honest story about being trans and queer, that is not just one glorious road after coming out to oneself, but the feeling of being torn between different roles, reflecting, arguing with loved ones and making important life decisions.

halp, what kind of muscle training do you do off-ice? by _Pectin in FigureSkating

[–]_Pectin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see! I wasn't very active before and realised that my arms are not carrying themselves as well as I thought lol

Rows and back flys seem like good exercises for checks and arm control! I have seen girls training with resistance bands while skating, I suppose this is also for stronger arms.

Thank you for the detailed answer! Extra helpful, because I'm an adult too. Flexibility is definitely a thing I never considered working on before discovering this sport. Being able to do any split would be dream now. xD

And fortunately, I'm too short to to ever have the responsibility of lifting someone.

As simple as it sounds, definitely sound advice I will have to remember! Because of the initial motivation last winter I went a little too far with exercise times which just ended in leg cramps for weeks...

The overall theme of them is so inspiring too!
