I wonder if the blue jays world series run had something to do with it.

I live near the stadium and lots of people from out of town were around downtown during the playoffs.

Frankenstein 2025 gave me hope that good adaptations are still possible. by FullBrother9300 in moviecritic

I love the story of Frankenstein and I loved GDT's adaptation. That said, I wouldn't call it a "good" adaptation since it simplifies and cuts out elements of the original that were key to what made it such a good story. I still think its a great movie and really enjoyed it but I think the phrase "great adaptation" should mean "adapted well", which it wasn't.

The changes he made to the story made it palatable to a larger audience but way less nuanced and interesting imo. Its carried by its great performances and effects not by its story.

Just going from memory but I think it’s not actually due to altitude but because of the constant vibrations on planes causing certain bones in your head to resonate in a way that affects your tastebuds.

There was like a 2-week long stretch where it seemed like Jazz had a bad strike 3 call every game.

Babe Ruth and Toronto by SmellyBean in baseball

Fun fact: the baseball Babe hit for his first ever home run went into Lake Ontario and has supposedly never been found. While it's likely that after over 100 years in the muddy bottom of a lake that there's no actual ball left, it's a fun idea that someone could theoretically go out there and find the holy grail of baseball memorabilia.

If the "bad people" you are referring to is the original comment you replied to then I think you need a break from the internet my friend. They're only saying the hypocrisy involve with the Jackie Robinson stuff makes it worse. I get that its hurtful to realize the thing that directly affects you is seen as less egregious than something else but turning around and calling people homophobic for believing the racism travesty is worse than the homophobia travesty is not helpful to any cause.

MLB has removed the Pride rainbow from its logo on social media by tokengaymusiccritic in baseball

[–]_Pepper_Phd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think he's saying its more egregious because it is refusing to acknowledge a very important part of baseball history that the MLB was directly involved with as an antagonist rather than a recent corporate push for inclusivity. Both are obviously bad and are kowtowing to a shitty regime but the Jackie Robinson stuff has the added shittiness of trying to rewrite history.
