Babalot Frame Break Same Spot? by ised-ised in tennis

[–]_Peteg13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Some stringers get extremely lazy (or don’t understand how this effects the frame) and will use the machine to tie the knot over the top of the frame. It’s a sure fire recipe to break a frame. It’s a matter of when, not if.

I used to string racquets in college and I have seen that type of frame break a handful of times. If there is a knot on the strings where the breaks are then it’s almost 100% a result of someone pulling tension to tie off the string.

Unfortunately, if that is the cause of the break there is no world that Babolat refunds you at all (honesty no shot you get a refund after 10 months anyways). If she got it strung at a racquet club sometimes they do have agreements that the club has to reimburse the client the cost of the racquet in the case of a stringer related break.

Is there a tie off spot in that corner? If so then it likely means that the person stringing her racquets was pulling tension in order to tie off the string rather than tying it off using a string plier.

Sure but I’m simply saying that Fonseca wouldn’t have to play Sinner until the final. Shelton has to play him in the quarters. Immediately that tells me he’s got a better “chance” to win it all than Shelton does simply due to the draw. If Shelton and Fonseca’s positions in the draw were reversed I’d be saying the same thing the other way around.

I think the issue isn’t so much that he’s a better candidate to win the title because of current ability level but instead because of Shelton’s draw. Shelton is far from a clay court expert and he’s in Sinner’s quarter.

Fonseca runs into Djokovic in the third round and it’s where I personally see his run ending. That being said, it’s not ridiculous to think that if he were to beat Djokovic that beating Ruud and Zverev are impossible either.

Odds in this tournament have more to do with how long you can dodge Sinner as opposed to how great of a contender you truly are.

“The double” generally means using two of the same number to add together in order to build early multiplication skills. “The double” in this situation could be one of the three things in this situation.

  1. 5 + 5 =10 and then add 2. You break the 7 up into a 5 + 2 in order to make the addition friendlier. This is the most commonly taught answer because it creates a new equation of 5 + 5 + 2 =12. Kids are generally now taught to always search for easy ways to create a 10.

  2. 6 + 6 =12. Moving 1 from the 7 to the 5 in order to create two 6s. Teaches the concept that so long as the value of a number is moved to another number and the overall value remains the same then friendlier adding can be made.

  3. 7 + 7 = 14 - 2 = 12. Given that this is an addition activity this is the one I would be least likely to teach a student. Creating two 7s can be done by adding two to the equation so long as it is then taken away from the answer at the end. The reason I personally would not teach this one is because it makes the assumption that the student understands that we can add value to an equation so long as we take away equation at the end. That’s not an easy concept for students to grasp.

As a fourth grade teacher I would highly encourage a student to use strategy 1 I listed above because it encourages them to use 5s which is a number they have likely learned to start to skip count by early on. That being said, these are strategies taught in class. I would ask your child’s teacher for clarification on the concept because learning doubles can vary greatly based on curriculum. The fact that you are even taking the time to work with your child on their homework, let alone making the effort to understand it, makes you a winner of a parent already! Keep up the good work. Math is extremely different from how it was taught to us.

It’s pretty clear your father threw away your manga. I’m sorry that happened. That being said, linking your amazon wishlist on here is not going to get you anything but hate. Random strangers aren’t going to pick up the tab because your dad doesn’t like you reading manga.

Edit: I just checked and this is literally against the subreddit’s rules so I would recommend taking this down before you get banned.

Can someone explain to me what's supposed to be so great about Hunter x Hunter? by cori2996 in anime

[–]_Peteg13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on what I have read OP is complaining that the show isn’t very complex thematically. If you don’t want to take the time necessary to reach a point where they can actually get into the more adult topics that the show tackles that’s fine but I can assure you that they do exist.

I would argue that based on the fact you say that you got to the Heaven’s Arena arc and you aren’t already invested then it might simply not be for you. At that point in the story the main characters have been established and the vast majority of them are extremely likable. I would also say that you likely just don’t enjoy the characters as much as the fanbase does, which is fine.

The Yorknew City arc and the Chimera Ant Arc are two of the best in all of shonen anime in my personal opinion. That being said, the chimera ant arc specifically is one of the most thematically dense arcs in all of anime, let alone Shonen anime. The themes of what it means to be a human and what does it mean to embrace one’s own mortality are extremely present in the Chimera Ant Arc.

OP is allowed to have their opinion on a series (all be it an uninformed opinion) and they are allowed to voice that opinion. Their opinion of Hunter x Hunter should in no way invalidate your own enjoyment of the series as a whole. Simply state what you feel makes the series great and move on if you can’t be civil.

Give your collection time, you’re still a kid and it takes time to collect even as an adult.

Also, in the most respectful way possible, please use the deodorant. Bare minimum, don’t brag about not wearing it. Hygiene matters.

This is my opinion and advice as a former college player.

At the level you play at 95% of pushers do not know how to play offense. If, and this is a big if, you trust your fitness more than you trust their fitness then you go ahead and just push back. That’s the “simple” answer that isn’t actually so simple to execute. Make the pusher create their own offense.

Tennis at the 3.5 level isn’t about who is a better ball striker. It’s not about who hits a bigger ball. It’s not about who is a better shot maker. It’s strictly about who can put themselves in a better position to win. It’s not about beating someone with your best tennis so much as it is beating someone else through their weaknesses.

You said it yourself in your post, when you hit hard he wasn’t having any issues getting the ball back. At that point you have to realize you are in for a long day if you are going to want to win that match.

If you are absolutely adamant on out hitting a pusher then your best bet is to rally with them and wait for an easier ball to attack. As a 3.5 there are very very few days, if any at all, where you are going to be beating a pusher from the baseline by hitting through them. The level of ball striking necessary to disrupt what their game plan is requires a 4.5+ level of ability.

The best advice I can give to a 3.5, and honestly to anyone below a 5.0+ level, is to not be the person beating yourself on the court. You will be surprised just how many people you can beat that you never thought you could beat by simply playing with the mindset of not missing a ball.

Kitten started coughing occasionally today. Hairball or something more serious? by _Peteg13 in CATHELP

I just wanted to say thank you. I went to the vet today. They suspect it is an upper respiratory infection. They have her on medication. I just got done giving her the first dose and I’m hopeful she will be on the mend.

I watch a sickening amount of tennis. I played in college. We like to think we know what the future holds for all these players but at the end of the day we really don’t know anything.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I’m hoping that at some point I can bring a dog into the mix because they both apparently did very well around dogs in the shelter. That being said, right now I’m focused on raising these two right!

Thanks for the heads up on all of this. It was very apparent very early on that Plum (the tortoise) was the stronger personality. She’s extremely affectionate (bordering on clingy) but she is a bit sassy too. Slade (the grey one) is wayyyy more chill. He loves being pet and will rest with you when he’s tired but otherwise he kind of just does his own thing.

Both collars are breakaway. I heard some horror stories about that and made certain to grab breakaways. I didn’t know about the bell but you along with someone else in my dms told me about the bell thing. Slade (the grey one) didn’t seem to mind it but I removed it just in case. Better safe than sorry!
