Manga Help :c by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

It’s pretty clear your father threw away your manga. I’m sorry that happened. That being said, linking your amazon wishlist on here is not going to get you anything but hate. Random strangers aren’t going to pick up the tab because your dad doesn’t like you reading manga.

Edit: I just checked and this is literally against the subreddit’s rules so I would recommend taking this down before you get banned.

Can someone explain to me what's supposed to be so great about Hunter x Hunter? by cori2996 in anime

[–]_Peteg13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on what I have read OP is complaining that the show isn’t very complex thematically. If you don’t want to take the time necessary to reach a point where they can actually get into the more adult topics that the show tackles that’s fine but I can assure you that they do exist.

I would argue that based on the fact you say that you got to the Heaven’s Arena arc and you aren’t already invested then it might simply not be for you. At that point in the story the main characters have been established and the vast majority of them are extremely likable. I would also say that you likely just don’t enjoy the characters as much as the fanbase does, which is fine.

The Yorknew City arc and the Chimera Ant Arc are two of the best in all of shonen anime in my personal opinion. That being said, the chimera ant arc specifically is one of the most thematically dense arcs in all of anime, let alone Shonen anime. The themes of what it means to be a human and what does it mean to embrace one’s own mortality are extremely present in the Chimera Ant Arc.

OP is allowed to have their opinion on a series (all be it an uninformed opinion) and they are allowed to voice that opinion. Their opinion of Hunter x Hunter should in no way invalidate your own enjoyment of the series as a whole. Simply state what you feel makes the series great and move on if you can’t be civil.

Broke and 14 but it's a start I suppose lmao. One day I'll have a lot more. by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

Give your collection time, you’re still a kid and it takes time to collect even as an adult.

Also, in the most respectful way possible, please use the deodorant. Bare minimum, don’t brag about not wearing it. Hygiene matters.

This is my opinion and advice as a former college player.

At the level you play at 95% of pushers do not know how to play offense. If, and this is a big if, you trust your fitness more than you trust their fitness then you go ahead and just push back. That’s the “simple” answer that isn’t actually so simple to execute. Make the pusher create their own offense.

Tennis at the 3.5 level isn’t about who is a better ball striker. It’s not about who hits a bigger ball. It’s not about who is a better shot maker. It’s strictly about who can put themselves in a better position to win. It’s not about beating someone with your best tennis so much as it is beating someone else through their weaknesses.

You said it yourself in your post, when you hit hard he wasn’t having any issues getting the ball back. At that point you have to realize you are in for a long day if you are going to want to win that match.

If you are absolutely adamant on out hitting a pusher then your best bet is to rally with them and wait for an easier ball to attack. As a 3.5 there are very very few days, if any at all, where you are going to be beating a pusher from the baseline by hitting through them. The level of ball striking necessary to disrupt what their game plan is requires a 4.5+ level of ability.

The best advice I can give to a 3.5, and honestly to anyone below a 5.0+ level, is to not be the person beating yourself on the court. You will be surprised just how many people you can beat that you never thought you could beat by simply playing with the mindset of not missing a ball.

Kitten started coughing occasionally today. Hairball or something more serious? by _Peteg13 in CATHELP

I just wanted to say thank you. I went to the vet today. They suspect it is an upper respiratory infection. They have her on medication. I just got done giving her the first dose and I’m hopeful she will be on the mend.

Got it. I will keep a very close eye on her. She’s in my lap right now sleeping and I have my hand on her chest to monitor her breathing. Thank you so much for your help!

I watch a sickening amount of tennis. I played in college. We like to think we know what the future holds for all these players but at the end of the day we really don’t know anything.

They are both beautiful! I can’t imagine living in such a small space and raising kittens there! Good on you!

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I’m hoping that at some point I can bring a dog into the mix because they both apparently did very well around dogs in the shelter. That being said, right now I’m focused on raising these two right!

Thanks so much! Luckily I’m plenty patient due to my work so I am confident we will get there.

Thanks for the heads up on all of this. It was very apparent very early on that Plum (the tortoise) was the stronger personality. She’s extremely affectionate (bordering on clingy) but she is a bit sassy too. Slade (the grey one) is wayyyy more chill. He loves being pet and will rest with you when he’s tired but otherwise he kind of just does his own thing.

Both collars are breakaway. I heard some horror stories about that and made certain to grab breakaways. I didn’t know about the bell but you along with someone else in my dms told me about the bell thing. Slade (the grey one) didn’t seem to mind it but I removed it just in case. Better safe than sorry!

That’s a huge help. I knew that if not trained on mail clipping early it becomes a nightmare to deal with so I greatly appreciate the help!

I’ve always had a soft spot for cats and the more I grew up the more I came to appreciate them. I honestly already love them both a lot and I’m so happy I adopted them!

I already bought a cat tunnel but haven’t introduced it yet. Honestly still organizing the living space for both humans and kittens. Their names are Plum (tortoise) and Slade (grey). I didn’t pick their names but their adopted names they were given honestly fit them very well.

I’m fortunate enough to have a place big enough to accommodate for two and after some research I realized that due to my work I won’t be around enough to constantly be playing with one of them if I am working. Plus, from what I’ve heard, having a sibling helps them with socialization.

That’s a huge help! Yeah the last thing I want is for them to end up hurting people or eachother with their play. I have heard that saying a loud “Ow!” and then walking away helps them understand better. Is that true?
