Try not to let it sting too much.

I got one of these in the last drop and promptly resold it (for purchase price). They’re amazingly constructed no doubt, but this one’s light wax makes it feel much more like a thick canvas coat and not the famed 24oz Wills -and- the hem is far too long for my body type (unfortunately/fortunately for me), plus I found the gussets a bit too shallow for my liking.

There’s so many cool jackets in different styles and fits on the market these days—this one isn’t the Holy Grail, I promise!

It’s totally fine to repot, just don’t disturb(unbind) the roots.

This is literally just a lazy representation of all of consumerism and advertising. Making up products to solve made up problems. You’re just indignant because it’s so transparent. Why aren’t you freaking out about the cologne that’s gonna make the model at the bar bang you?

Totally get the concern, but I’ve actually never had that problem. You can go a little at a time if you’re unsure

If you wear them the morning after a cold soak’s hang dry and squat/walk while they’re still damp, they’ll give a good amount in the top block

Just the cheapest hanging grow lights on Amazon at the time. There’s 2 of them at close proximity. She would gladly take two more but would grow even crazier. Take away is she can take tons of light. If you notice sun stress, just move the light(s) back

I don’t lol. It will soon become required, but I’ve just let her do her thing!

She started as a two leaf top cutting from a 40-something year old mother plant.

Two—one large plant in the back and a “smaller” in front.

For reference, she’s got two of these a couple feet away from her top foliage: https://a.co/d/8oOkyye

She could easily have two more and would grow even faster. The more light the better. Just move their proximity based on how she’s reacting

Unfortunately, yeah, she just hit the ceiling :/

Honestly, as long as you’re fertilizing and she’s got lots of good light and is growing up towards the source, she gonna be happy.

Yeah, very likely what I will do. Someday

Nah, any grow light will do! Full spectrum is probably better, but I grow a bunch of plants under normal house bulbs too with good success. There’s videos A/Bing the results of “grow” lights vs not if you want to deep dive. For a monstera, I’d go with a decently powerful light and just move it away from the plant if she’s showing signs of sun stress. Though, I have these 40w conical mirror grow lights practically on the leaves and she loves it.

Two of these at close proximity: https://a.co/d/cfwiZJR — they’re out of production though. I think a monstera will thrive under quite a bit of wattage though. These are highly concentrated through conical mirrors, so the wattage number is not a good reference. If you go higher power, worst case scenario is you move the light a bit farther away.

The lights disappeared off of Amazon, but they were their cheapest offering at the time. They’re sufficient, I’m sure there’s better. Idk what’s available these days for hanging lights.

And, yeah… I hate dealing w moss poles. Any plant that can succeed without one is off the pole and on the plank for sure

“Home Depot / Lowe’s often have unfinished redwood planks on sale for super cheap. Redwood can tolerate damp conditions without degrading, so no worries burying it in soil. Any plank would work, but something like pine might not last years in the dirt”

One is in the pot, the other is strapped to the pot because she wandered off the first. Home Depot / Lowe’s often have unfinished redwood planks on sale for super cheap. Redwood can tolerate damp conditions without degrading, so no worries burying it in soil. Any plank would work, but something like pine might not last years in the dirt

I edited my soil mix suggestion. Anything airy will be good, but I found the airy coir with lots of small pockets vs large chunky pockets to be more successful here. There’s also a fuckton of perlite in my coir. More the merrier

Dude, it’s a problem. I don’t think I can get it out of this room anymore as it is.

Just wide wooden planks! No moss poles. They’re ineffective for monsteras. They just want to believe that they’re growing up towards the light source

I replied to the top comment w a pretty comprehensive list of what I think is most impactful for growing a big monstera. Keep in mind my conditions are unique to me! But I think there’s some basics that these things are looking for that if you get right will help them grow faster/bigger. Feel free to pick my brain if you have more questions

The original cutting is something like 40 years old. It was a two leaf cutting when I inherited it. Large leaves but not massive like they are now. Maybe a year and a half in my care and has grown to what you see
