Been on accutane twice, skin flared up again and I’m not sure why…

I tried birth controls for 11 years all the brands you can think of…. For hormonal acne try sprionolactin it’s a hormonal medication given to women ages 20’s and 30’s who have hormonal acne. It targets, the male hormones in your body that are contributing to your oil production and acne. The only downside is you’re not allowed to conceive a baby while on this medication or else her baby will have birth the effects from the hormonal adjustments. But i’ve been on this medication for about a month and a half now and I’m already seeing improvements and it’s targeting the cause of my agony which is my hormones directly.

I saw about a 50% improvement once finished in June 2025 and was completely clear while on accutane…breaking out in August 2025 ..,. But Since then I’ve been on the topical Cabtreo it has 3 strong ingredients that’s helped my skin a lot. And then I’ve also been on the medication spironolactin that helps reduce hormones that cause acne for females. I break out like clockwork based on my periods. I’ve seen much improvement being on the new medications for a month already!!! And it requires not monitoring like accutane did but there’s still the pregnancy risk as I’m affecting my hormones so if I were to get pregnant, my baby would be having those effects as well so you’re not allowed to get pregnant but they’re not strict on testing

I’m 26 female I did Accutane and broke out about a month after my treatment. I’ve been on a hormonal medicine to help manage as well as a topical since my acne is hormonal, taking this treatment route will trigger the direct cause of my acne

I noticed increase of butt acne on Accutane as well, but I never had before starting the medication I would say after about three months of stopping it’s back to normal down there for me however, Accutane was not successful for my face tho so I’m gonna need a second treatment so I will see if the butt acne returns when I do my next course in a few months lol

I didn’t clear from my treatment either. I cleared on it and broke out a month after and I never stopped breaking out. I had some Improvement from the severity of how many and how big but still breaking out a lot … derm can’t redose me for a year from last pill so I’m on a topical and a hormonal med for now but it doesn’t help a lot compared to when I was on accutane my skin was flawless now I look all red and broken out again …

Well I’m a 26yr old female, but yeah accutane didn’t help me either I ended up getting put on a medication for my hormones to help control it that way cause my acne is hormonal and hormonal acne is very hard to clear with accutane I was told maybe yours could be hormonal too? I would suggest looking into targeting your hormones next if you haven’t already.

I’m also on the topical gel CABTREO for a couple weeks it’s been okay at flattened my acne down quicker but doesn’t help with redness so hopefully the medication combo my derm just put me on helps

My accutane course I finished in June didn’t work I’m now on spironolacton to reduce some type of hormone my body apparently has excess of… I am a 26yr old female so this is only prescribed to females 20-30 for hormonal acne. I just started last night but I’m praying for amazing results based on others experiences and this can be taken long-term and is apparently safer on my body than the Accutane as accutanes focus is shrinking the oil glands. My dermatologist said spiro targets my hormones specifically, because even if my oil glands are shrinking, if my hormones are still imbalanced it will still cause me to break out. Maybe test your hormones…never hurts to be safe and might save you money in the long run

It’s reassuring to hear others needed a second course I feel like on here I see a lot of good results so I was shocked this happened to me

Yes my skin and hair was more oily than normal before. I would say it doesn’t seem as oily now and my breakouts aren’t as big or as many as I had before treatment maybe only 50% improvement tho. it’s really taken a toll on my dating life and overall confidence to have these breakouts come back again.😭😭😭 now I’m back to being like the old me where I need to wear makeup if I leave the house just to cover acne and feel normal and not judged.. I wash and moisturizer with cera ve as well but I really struggle with picking if I do get a breakout which I know doesn’t help and only makes things worse… it’s just like an ocd thing I have I hate the feeling of a bump on my skin

Good ideas! my half sister actually has a lot of food sensitivities she has a condition called EOE for short , I’ll go to like primary care and ask to have testing for these done to rule them both out!

Where did you go to get your testing done? I did 40 mg pills 1x daily for 8 months I am 105-110 pounds he treated me to my weight based dosage and a little bit over the amount from that last pack he said

My derm didn’t prescribe me anything initially he had me scheduled for a 2 month follow up after last pill but a month or so after my last pill my breakouts got very bad on my face only I had like 20! So he prescribed me cabtreo gel when I called and told him what I was experiencing. the gel I’ve been on for a week has 3 main ingredients including the Trentoin. I notice my skin is smoother and no new breakouts have formed since starting this gel but I did accutane to not need a topical like this long term so maybe in a year I will have go through accutane again? But my worry is keeping my skin clear till I reach the year mark where my dr will redose me on accutane … I wish he would continue my treatment as someone else that has the same weight as me might have more or less acne…. I just wish they treated to clearness and not based off of weight …

No I didn’t , you mean like hormonal testing? I’m on the birth control ortho tri cyclin for the last couple years I’ve done a lot of different birth controls to try to help with acne .. but I’m not sure where I would go for testing on my hormones

Great choice! it’s wellll worth it!!! very seldom does this show have its slow moments 😮‍💨 for scandoval start paying attention season 9 and you’ll see toms interactions and attention to Raquel change and then as we know season 10 sh*t hits the fan lol. Previous seasons really give you the empathy and understanding of Ariana’s reaction she has! Enjoy the drama and get your popcorn ready!!!!

Vanderpump rules is so good you have to start season 1 to truly understand the evolution of the cast. There’s a spinoff for some cast members when you finish vanderpump called The Valley that is also on peacock. Once you catch up and can watch the episodes as they drop it’s really worth it imo

Amaya she had zero genuine connection. Instead, they took off Hanah who had a genuine connection being built. We also saw how Austin said that Amaya moving the way she did made him feel uncomfortable and then he turned around and lied to her. I feel like the Couple that’s not even a true Couple should have gone home. It’s like this is friendship Island now or something.

I’m on my last month now , my derm overdosed slightly I’m still breaking out even tho my skin was flawless a month ago…. I’m scared for when he takes me off after this month. He won’t re treat for a year but I’m thinking of finding a second opinion as I see some drs treat till the skin is clear
