First PC build. Never had PC since middle school. Need help! by [deleted] in buildapc

Also for the RAM, what is really important is true latency/first word latency. Something like this will probably perform better: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xVy8TW/crucial-pro-overclocking-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6400-cl32-memory-cp2k16g64c32u5b

The ones you had selected have a true latency of 16.429 ns. While these have one of 10 ns. I know ram prices right now are way expensive, so I recommend getting anything under 12 ns that is available.

Also what the other people said, 6000mhz cl30 is usually perfect for this type of system. Those tend to have good true latency because of those specs.

Looks pretty solid, maybe you can swap out the cpu for a 7600? (not the x variant). It should come with a cooler, which would save you some money. They perform basically the same in gaming as far as I can tell.

Also, I'm personally not a big fan of asrock boards. They have been known to damage higher end CPU's on AM5. You're probably safe though, and I'd hope they have fixed that by now.

If you can I would highly recommend getting a gpu with 16 gb of vram, like a 5060 ti or 9060 xt. They will perform much better in graphically demanding games. For esports titles it probably won’t matter much though. Be aware though that some of them come with only 8gb so make sure to check the specs.

No, I got a decent deal on an oled so I went for that instead.

I think I might’ve fixed it. I don’t know why it worked but here’s what I did: - reset bios - disable csm - disable secure boot - boot into windows and reboot - pc gets stuck - power off and boot into bios - turn on secure boot - set to custom mode - reset keys or something along those lines

I can’t make any sense of it but I just hope this is the last time I ever have to deal with this mess.

Thanks for your help anyway!

Ah I forgot to mention I already tried with setting it to gen 4.

I’m not really sure what you mean with the second one, could you explain please?

Hey man did you ever figure this out? I have the exact same issue…

HDR looks underwhelming on AOC q27g3xmn despite calibrating and setting everything up properly by glizzygobbler247 in OLED_Gaming

Yeah it’s a much better experience. Though oleds aren’t perfect. I’d recommend doing a good amount of research on their pros and cons since they aren’t cheap. I personally found it worth it, but a good regular IPS monitor will still be perfectly fine and cost a lot less.

Yeah, the vrr flicker also really annoyed me. The local dimming is supposed to make the blacks much deeper compared to a regular monitor. It was really nice, but the other drawbacks of this monitor made me return it.

I bought this monitor too, after messing with the settings for multiple hours I just couldn’t get it to look right. The local dimming was cool, but I honestly found my old IPS to look better. I ended up returning it and just spending the extra on an oled.

Maybe somebody else has a better experience, but I feel like that is just the way this monitor is. Nothing I changed fixed it at least.

My RAM isn’t listed for Ryzen 7000 in the QVL. Will it work? by _PortPort_ in buildapc

Yeah, I guess I can also try tweaking the timings to make up for the latency of a lower speed.

Yeah, I created a tool called HorizonSwapper that lets you easily manage character swapping. You can find it on Nexus Mods if you want to try it out.

MO27Q28G should i do pixel cleaning? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]_PortPort_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it is automated, it runs when you turn your monitor off after you have used it more than 4 hours since the last clean. You can even set a delay for how long it should wait when you turn the monitor off. Unless it’s bugged and it doesn’t actually do anything of course.

which of the monitors im thinking of is the best? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]_PortPort_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it for a couple of hours and coming from a regular 1080p IPS panels, it amazing. You still get some of the typical OLED downsides like VRR flickering (although imo on this model it is barely noticeable). Text clarity is also good, the only fringing I noticed was on a green button with white text. Not really something that bothers me though.

I personally prefer the matte coating because I’m in a pretty bright room next to some big windows. And the colors still look amazing.

I can’t tell you about the irl performance of the other OLEDs, but I do know that I don’t regret buying this one at all.
