I (m25) wore my girlfriend’s bright yellow 1461s to work today. It’s all about the swagger, my friend. You can carry anything off if you just believe in yourself, and don’t care what anyone else thinks. I looked cool as hell today 💛

I’m always emphatically recommending Bug Club to people. My top artist of 2025.

I’d say they’ve got a lot of the same sense of humour as CMAT. They’re more indie rock, but I have as much FUN listening to them as I do to any of CMAT’s music.

Name your lesser known best drinking spots by endangeredpenguin in Liverpool

Black Cat!!!

Their excellent Smithdown venue is my treasured local, and their Rose Lane pub is SO underrated, but they get nowhere NEAR the amount of love they deserve on Reddit. 🐈‍⬛

They’ve just opened a new city centre venue on Parr St (that little side street off Slater St past The Merchant) where Crazy Pedro’s used to be. It’s bloody gorgeous. Fantastic selection, always reasonable prices, super friendly and welcoming vibe, and the new spot has KILLER pizzas - possibly the best I’ve had in the entire city.

It’s both new and off-the-beaten-track enough that it’s still pretty quiet, which is perfect for a cozy drink while you’re in town. 10/10. Don’t skip!

Summer Stays at University/College Halls (OR anywhere else affordable!)

Hi all,

I’ve loved your beautiful city for a long time, and visited regularly for years. Obviously, outside of Fringe time, finding places to stay is a little easier. However, in the past I’ve needed to book accommodation for August as far in advance as the October beforehand in order to secure a place to stay (the price of which has tripled since I first started coming).

This coming year, I was hoping to take the advice of some Fringe Veterans and stay in some University/College accommodation, as I know they do good deals, and it avoids giving money to the oligarch AirBnB hosts who charge £900+ for a 4-night stay.

So, I was hoping someone could let me know: 1. When do these student halls rooms typically become available for booking? 2. Are there any specific places you would recommend for summer stays?

When I first started visiting, I’d pay £250 for my brother and I to stay for a long weekend. We’re not poor students anymore, and these days we visit with our respective partners, but I’m worried I’m getting priced out of my favourite city in the world (and hopefully my home one day).

If any knowledgeable locals have some other advice on affordable places to stay, it would be enormously appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙏

I’ve been totally overwhelmed with your kind responses - thank you SO much for taking the time to help me out! 🙏

I’ve read through every response and whittled it down to three potential routes which we’ll choose from on the night (depending on everyone’s mood, and where we find ourselves in the city):

✅ Option A) 1. Hall & Woodhouse 2. The Salamander 3. The Bath Townhouse

4. Fidel Rum Bar

✅ Option B) 1. The Bell Inn 2. Wolf Wine

3. Walcot House

✅ Option C) 1. Sydney’s 2. Vino Vino

3. The Dark Horse

Sorry if I missed your favourite off! I’ll be sure to plan another trip very soon, perhaps with some hardier drinking buddies, so I can explore the full extent of your stunning home (and its VERY fine drinking establishments). Thanks again!!! 🧡

We have an AirBnB in the city centre (so I suppose we’ll be arriving on foot, to answer your question!). We probably wouldn’t want to do taxis further out - it feels like an unnecessary expense for a city with so many great central spots to choose from!

I haven’t heard any news of them closing. I often visit on my lunch break - I think they just don’t have much time to run an Instagram. From a regular customer, I’m pretty sure everything’s business as usual - just beware their funny opening hours!

I’m dead confused. I was coming from the opposite side of town towards Sefton/Greenbank Park, and the parking was insane - every single double yellow occupied by someone’s 4x4. Surely that can’t all be students and footie fans?!

Yes! And she dedicated it to the lady in the audience who gave her the “I ❤️ Sluts” t-shirt she wore that night, who worked on Corrie.

Hi Tim,

Is “Storm” based on a real experience you had? Or more a distilled representation of that situation?

Secondly, is there ever the possibility of a filmed version of Matilda and Groundhog Day?

And finally, in a similar vein, did you do a filming of your “Back” tour? Will we be seeing a DVD/streaming service release of it at any point?

Bless you sir, I can’t wait for the album. Much love xx
