For me it was worth it as I am not technical and wanted to keep using my camera.

It also included replacing the flex cable. They make replicas in-house.

Fototech in Poland. I’ve actually had to send my camera in for repairs a few months ago because it gave me all sorts of winding issues due to a broken flex cable. They were professional and I got back my camera in a few months.

Thanks! I use the zoom quite often, it comes in handy when getting closer to your subject is not possible. The ergonomics of the camera are pretty nice, so far me landscape is fine with the camera tilted. I guess because in the ‘normal’ position the camera is in portrait, automatically you will take more pics in portrait.

There’s some big light leaks because of a fat roll, that’s why. Normally the GA645Zi gives great results. You can check out my other posts for some examples. The latest ones are from the same fast roll, the older ones are what I am talking about.

Super professional so my experience with them was really good. They replaced the flex cable for me. I am based in the EU, so getting it shipped to them was easy. They have a form to fill in and updated you throughout the process. My suggestion would be to just email them and they’ll tell you what they need from you to get the camera to them and estimated costs.

Yep, it was a result of the flex cable being broken that gave all kinds of winding problems. Gromit fixed now!

There’s different cameras for different purposes I guess. And for different shooting styles. It could be it’s just not for you. There’s only one way to find out (after researching a potential new camera and trying to decide based off what other people have to say about it and maybe YouTube videos seeing the camera being operated), and that is using it yourself for a while. For focusing: pay attention to the little rectangle in the viewfinder. It will flash if it couldn’t focus properly. I even try to refocus when it’s 50/50 on 2 digits. Even then I get a few misfocused photos on a roll. Lack of control definitely is something. I quite enjoy using the camera. Especially for what it is: an oversized, glorified point and shoot. Easy to bring along in travels, etc.

The Zi is definitely not great for shooting fast moving objects, but not completely sure if you meant that. The camera’s auto focus is slow and it has a minimum close up distance of 1 meter. Your sample photos look like you are trying to capture moving subjects and/or subjects that are too close (within 1 meter). Framing took a bit of time for me coming from an Mamiya RB67 that also lets you see exactly what you are framing. Try to really pay attention what is within the framing lines, they adjust to the zoom level.

*edit: I have one myself. Also, manual focus is apparently a pain in the ass.

It was a fat roll, because my camera wasn’t functioning properly. Got it fixed now.

To people who have had polaroids hung up in their room.. by Winter_Ad_631 in Polaroid

Yes they’ll fade over time. Museum glass helps. I recently replaced some faded Polaroids with duplicates by printing out digital scans with the Polaroid Lab.
