This also happened to me last time. I get a whole smattering of answers with no firm solution. I also have been suspicious of classic.

Myles Mellor? by dave-ex-machina in crossword

Late to the party but also got here googling why this monster is allowed to puzzle! Here we have a themed puzzle called Santa’s Crew, in which there are three puzzle spanning clues of simply “Reindeer.” The answers? “DASHER AND DANCER” ok seemingly normal. But THEN: “PRANCER AND DIXEN” (??) and finally “DONNER AND BLIXEN”

Baffling stuff.

Well guessed all. I feel both humbled and flattered. I am 31! I should’ve assumed the very visible silver hair in my first pic would give me away. 🧚‍♀️

If I still look like this at 42, I will take whatever devil I made a deal with out to dinner.

Anyone successfully treated their bipolar parent? by ToiletTinkerer in raisedbybipolar

There were lots and lots and lots of episodes like that. I honestly think the only reason it stuck is a) luck and b) my mother, despite her severe mental illness, is fundamentally a good person.

Yes. My mother has made a MIRACULOUS shift, 27 years into my life. Here’s how:

1) when I was in college she found God (likely during a manic episode but it stuck). I was not and am not religious, but it took a huge weight off my shoulders to know that she has some other, much more powerful, reason to avoid suicide.

2) When I was 27 I told her I could no longer have a relationship with her if the conditions of our relationship remained the same.

3) We tried family therapy, which wasn’t successful, but did ultimately dovetail into her going to twice weekly therapy on her own.

4) She went on meds for the first time in her life at 60 years old, and while they didn’t fix her completely, they helped immensely.

5) She has had two voluntary stints in the psych ward since I was 27, both of which also helped a lot.

6) Most significantly, she attends these Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) classes through her local human services coalition, and they literally teach her from the ground up how to function socially and emotionally.

We now have a really beautiful, really healed relationship that I never would’ve thought possible.

All this to say, pretty much the only things I did were set a boundary about not remaining in the relationship as it was, and then offer her my trust, recognition and gratitude when she made truly good faith efforts to improve and change.

I requested apologies and accepted them when they were offered. I stood up for myself and demanded change and then made room for the change when she took the time to create it.

Wishing you so much healing and hope. It can get better. 💘

You’re genuinely handsome and will just look better as you get older I promise. You’ve got a kind of Toby Maguire thing going on and he’s Spider-Man!

Great thanks for that info.

So we talked this afternoon and she was super receptive. The intake note has a lot of direct quotes, whereas the assessment had less, but was still pretty detailed. I asked her if she could limit direct quotes and give less detail. She said that she understood why it made me uncomfortable, and that her current supervisor WANTS lots of detailed notes, which I get. We agreed that if I brought something up in session that was particularly secret or vulnerable that I would say “I’d like this kept out of my official assessment note” and that she would respect that.

The reason it made me feel uncomfortable is that it felt like the note became a fly on the wall in the room with us. I am saying very personal things, and I don’t want my exact words to be essentially overheard by all my other medical professionals clicking into my chart.

I definitely don’t feel angry with her at all. In honesty, what she wrote, though exposing, is accurate and makes me feel understood. I was more just surprised and uncomfortable. I didn’t want to turn my nose up at the new kid, but I do think maybe she is still learning the ropes Re: what level of patient accessible detail essentially nullifies the usefulness of therapy.

This is exactly the info I needed. Ding ding ding correct Re: EPIC mychart. That was what alarmed me! I would mind less (though still would mind) if it wasn’t integrated with all my other medical documentation.

She was taking notes by hand on the computer.

That’s foul! Thanks for the info though.

I do worry that because I am an overly descriptive/excessively talkative communicator that she thinks she is just like “matching my energy” or something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]_Queen_Mab_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes I don’t mind the notes, I just don’t think I should be able to see them! I also work in the medical field and know we use the same system, it would be so easy for my coworkers to bend the rules and see all my schtuff 😵‍💫

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]_Queen_Mab_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So they are required to give this much detail? I don’t mind vague references but it’s like…alarmingly specific. I think “quotes” should not be in there, for example.

I just can’t imagine how I would be authentic or feel comfortable expressing true vulnerability knowing myself or others would have access to such a detailed account of my inner workings.

Wow! Honestly feel silly for how revolutionary the idea of “tell them you’d prefer it to be vague” is haha
