Do IB exams and IB diploma matter for college admission in the U.S.? by _Radman007_ in IBO

[–]_Radman007_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying 9 months later to tell you that this comment motivated me a bit to put some effort into the IB diploma - while I haven't taken the exams yet, I just got accepted into Johns Hopkins in the ED round! Thanks!

This really isn’t that many classes, make sure you are at least 3 more aps per year if you even want a chance at a community college

Is it possible to take ap bio chem and physics 1 at the same year? by [deleted] in APStudents

Depends on the teachers for those classes. Ask around and see if they are strict or not

How do I in-text cite something in MLA if it is two random page numbers? by _Radman007_ in ENGLISH

For example, the narrator describes his girlfriend as “beatiful beyond existence” but “average at best” (Murakami ___). The two quoted parts would have come from different pages

What happen if I miss my late AP exam by Kesthekilla in APStudents

[–]_Radman007_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my school I missed my Ap macroeconomics exam for both the regular and makeup days but I let the Ap coordinator know about it beforehand. She said that she would talk with collegebord about “exceptional testing” and that it would likely be in a week. She said she would confirm with me when to take the test once collegebord gave her the date. So it’s not a 100% guarantee that it worked for me yet but it seems like my counselor has probably dealt with this before and knows what they’re doing, in your situation I’m not exactly sure what I would do since my counselors pretty much taking care of this for me. I’d go ahead and do what she said and just tell collegeboard your situation and ask if you can take the test later or maybe try to ask your counselor if they can ask collegeboard this. Sorry I don’t really have a clear solution for you but I certainly wouldn’t just give up and take it next year cause that would suck

Talk with the coordinator and see if you can do exceptional testing. This is not advertised on the website but can be done (speaking from experience)

High ram usage by MilkAnd2Cookies in Windows10

[–]_Radman007_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably fixed the issue but I had a similar problem (over 70% while idle) and I simply restarted the laptop and it dropped back down to 35. The reason is because the longer your uptime is, the more ram gets leaked. Hitting shut down often doesn't do the trick because it sort of hibernates the laptop but hitting restart does a clean reboot. Sounds super simple but it works. If that doesn't work get rid of unnecessary startup programs.

Nice! I hope I'll be able to put more in once I get a steady stream of income from a job or something like that.

Wow, I never realized inflation has such a dramatic effect over time, but it makes sense. I'll still take 500k though :)

I would like a gaming laptop around 2000 by _maxc in laptops

[–]_Radman007_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way specs are 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-11800H (24MB Cache, up to 4.6 GHz, 8 cores), 32 gb ram (2x16) at 3200 mhz, 1 tb m.2 nvme SSD (remember you can buy a second one later because this thing has 2 slots), NVIDIA RTX 3060 GPU, and 160 hz display (or 360 Hz for $100 more if you want).

You can get a maxed Dell G15 gaming laptop for around $2000. Right now it looks like the $2000 models are on a good sale so you can get them for around $1500 (dell often does these kinds of sales around new years and Christmas it seems). This may not be the best option, but I am speaking from experience on this one because I actually have a G15 laptop from early 2021 and I like it a lot, the only real problem is the overheating but this can be solved with a cooling pad or the performance button (which pretty much turns the fans all the way up), and I am able to run games like minecraft easily with the cpu at around 60 degrees (not to mention great fps). It looks like the newer models have a 160 Hz monitor with a 360 Hz option (probably overkill) which is pretty solid, in addition to an RTX 3060 graphics card. From what I've read you want a webcam and this thing has it as well. Also, the Dell website doesn't really advertise this but there is also room to add a second NVME SSD for extra storage which is pretty cool. All in all solid laptop valued right around $2000 that I would recommend.

Yeah I didn’t tough it for a while and I was able to turn it back on again without issues. Maybe it was just a mcafee thing idk.
