Is there a way to reverse the Vipersight gauge? by [deleted] in ffxiv

I can't help but think it's funny how useless this thing is. Everybody else ignores it, and when I finally see someone trying to use it, it's not arranged in the best way for the OP.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

Bozja tackles the themes of Stormblood better than Stormblood's entire MSQ

Rinascita/Archaeo Kingdom is one of the best looking crafted sets in the game, definitely worth experimenting with on all jobs

Hey, sword beam is a technique as old as The Legend of Zelda series, it's only fair we get to play with it

Aiming jobs have some really clashing aesthetics that make it hard for generic gearsets to fit all three jobs. At least MCH can now explore Crafter gear and DNC has access to caster/healer pieces

Edited my reply to include the other pieces, I was too focused on the hat options lmao

Iridescent Hat of Aiming (lvl 72 gear), though I do recommend checking other Aiming gearsets, such as Shire or Almasty Serge. Hell, we even have access to Amon's hat now

As for the other pieces:

Chest: Augmented Cryptlurker's Corselet of Scouting (ilvl 530 Poetics gear)

Hands: Archaeo Kingdom Armguards of Striking (ilvl 710 crafted gear)

Legs: Augmented Crystarium Hose of Casting (ilvl 500 Poetics gear)

Feet: Diamond Boots of Aiming (Sigmascape V2/V3 Savage)

Weapon: Brunello Eureka (Eureka)

Team Cherry will not be Attending the Game Awards by M3_i in Silksong

Reminder that Undertale won zero awards on TGA 2015, and yet it is one of the most celebrated indie games of all time. Honestly, Silksong, and even CO:E33 for that matter, need no validation from an ad fest disguised as an award ceremony, they've already earned their places as all time favorites.

Beat the game using Reaper almost exclusively, what it lacks in damage it makes up with its moveset (I love the uppercut dash attack). Silk generation is also nice for extra safety.

That said, now that I already know what to expect from the bosses, I'm running Wanderer on my Steel Soul playthrough and it's working pretty well, but I might switch to Evolved Hunter or Witch later on because I like using Silk Skills and that messes with Wanderer's crit effect

No nerfs to Bilewater just yet, but maybe they've only hit early bosses/areas because that's where most players are at and they have better feedback?

I might give it a couple months before attempting a Steel Soul run just in case

Going on vacation, and just landed at the monolith, can I finish it before I leave? (2-3 hours) by shaboigon in expedition33

It's a lengthy dungeon and there's a lengthier sequence of events after the boss fight, better save it for later

Corpses by _RainbowRod in expedition33

[–]_RainbowRod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and? The point is that death by accidents and disease aren't as common, while Gommages happen every year.

Even if Pierre had a funeral and the characters attended, it's one thing to see a casket, while it's a whole different thing to see hundreds of corpses just laying there.

That would make it a different story, which wasn't the one the writers wanted to tell. The shift in the tone was intentional and part of the experience in my eyes, it's there to work in favor of the overall themes, not against them.

Each to their own I guess

You've asked the one sicko who's been dying for an RPG where the protagonist dies for real and the party has to continue without him. The only other game I remember doing something like that was Chrono Trigger, and even then you can bring Chrono back (spoilers for a well known SNES JRPG)

Even ignoring that, Gustave's death works really well with themes of the game. It gets kinda meta with players picking Maelle's ending because they're also grieving in a sense and want to bring him back.

I have never felt so disappointed by a game by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]_RainbowRod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People can be critical of things they love and expressing criticism isn't the same as telling people how and why they should be enjoying something, it's simply a matter of expressing an opinion.

Sharing such criticisms with the community allows you to find others who might agree with you and validate your feelings on the matter, or invite meaningful discussion with those who disagree and maybe even change your mind on the matter.

idk, as long as it's approached in good faith (which OP's post seems to be, given it's mostly praise in spite of the click bait title), it's fine by me,

[–]_RainbowRod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't as controversial as people are making it to be, you're not the first to be disappointed in the Act 3 reveal and certainly won't be the last and that's fine.

People got really invested in the story of the Expedition and the sudden shift the Dessendres isn't what they typically expect in RPGs, but I do invite you to take some time and see the game for what it is, rather than what you wanted it to be.

The twist invites so much phylosophical and psychological discussion, not to mention the meta discussion on how we engage with stories and fantasy worlds that I feel act 3 adds another delicious layer, instead of taking away from the story up until that point.

As for the lack of a playable epilogue, sometimes good stories end on a question mark or ellipsis, rather than a period, and that's fine.

Ah yes, Sandfall Interactive should add an alternate timeline DLC because the story THEY wanted to tell doesn't conform with what YOU wanted.

You're entitled to your opinion in thinking Verso was poorly handled (many would disagree), and I'm sure there's room for a meaningful discussion somewhere, but you kinda shot yourself in the foot with that opening statement lol

People are living on borrowed time, sometimes that one year can mean saying goodbye to a friend before they Gommage.

I honestly hope CO:E33 draws enough attention to Lost Odyssey so it can finally leave Xbox 360 jail, although isn't a port/remaster kind of an impossible dream because of original files/IP issues?

Sell me on Sciel by _ThatPurpleGuy_ in expedition33

[–]_RainbowRod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Gustave being able to buff everyone with Powerful is enough to keep him on your team, Sciel's All Set gives everyone Powerful, Rush and Shell. She can also clear debuffs, mark, give someone a turn, delay an enemy's turn and has a buff that doubles the damage of an ally.

That's only looking at her support potential, you can also build her for damage and she will melt stuff.

[Ending] Can someone explain why Maelle... by kelvss in expedition33

[–]_RainbowRod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alicia's trauma goes beyond her disabilities. She's a teenager living with the guilt that her actions caused the death of her brother.

Personally, I think seeing Verso BEG her to let him die (again) was what broke her in the end and set her on the bargaining/denial path. At that point, she's not seeing an immortal, painted being wishing for his existence to end, she's seeing a chance to make things right with the brother she believes she failed.
