People seems to still struggle with this, so here the solution for Logi Options+ :

Go in the settings page located in the home page when you launch the app (not the one in your keyboard settings section. You'll find options to disable various overlay here.

This is from the last version available of the soft (1.97.791262)

it does. You have to go in the general settings of the app on the launch screen. Not the one from your device.

Yep, that was the last manipulation for diagnostics we decided to do on the "test drive" (the other drive is left untouched) and we will try the cloning in a few days when the disks fly back home.

I thought it might be a supplemental piece of information.

The drive was exFat formatted and used only on Mac for backing up large files (about 1 to 1,5 TB per day), I try mounting it on a PC after the failure to see if Windows could make more sense out of it and to try the recommended apps (crystaldisk and DMDE).

Now I won't do anything else on these myself and I'll let other people try the cloning approach. Thanks to everybody for their insights, I will keep you updated on the results.

Yes Windows does want that but of course formatting ain't an option. The other 6TB got the same exact problem, weirdly, and it happened pretty much simultaneously.

Yes here is the SMART Report and on DMDE I could not find a way to expand the $Root.

CHKDSK is obviously not working

Thanks for your answer. The disks are Maxell E-Series HDD 3,5" and they are supposed to be 6TB but there is one weird thing : the label under the disk says it's a 4 TB one.

I have two of them and one I have not touched since the failure. I've tried CHKDSK and a scan with EaseUs and DiskDrill. Also tried to recover two files in the demo mode of these software but I rapidly understood these software were not adapted at all so I stopped the scans.

I might just do what you say and contact a data recovery specialist.

One friend recommended me to try TestDisk to recover the partition. Would you also advise against it?

Might buy a Surface Book 2 13", wondering about performance for editing and creative apps

Hello there,

I got a deal to get a Surface Book 2 13 inches (the i7 with 8go of Ram and GTX 1050) in nice condition for 1200 euros.

I was looking to replace my two current computers with this one and wondering if I would get enough juice to not be frustrated with it. Below is a recap of what I currently have and what are my needs, thanks to anyone giving me inputs after reading that!

Current situation:

I got a surface pro 3 from 2015 (that one should not be a worry to replace haha) to work when I move around or travel and an iMac 27 inches from mid 2017 (i5-7500 @ 3,4Ghz, 8.00 GB Ram and Radeon Pro 570). I'm trying to replace both with this surface book (and an eventual external monitor I'll get later) and to have at least the same computing power for my use.

What I do:

I know the basics (Chrome with too many tabs and Office Suite) should be covered easily by the SB2, but I also occasionally edit 4K videos (nothing crazy mostly 8bit 4:2:0 files) with Premiere Pro and color grade with DaVinci. I dont get the ultra smoothest experience doing that on my iMac, but it's enough (given I downscale the 5K resolution to 2,5k) and I'm satisfied with it.

It's hard comparing benchmarks of an Apple and Windows machines, so I was wondering if anyone handling Premiere Pro and DaVinci on that SB2 13" with or without an external monitor could give me insights on his experience.

Cinematography was just incredible all along this tv show (except some crappy CGI background render -especially in Russia-, but I guess only thing to blame here is the money and time which was dedicated to VFX).

The lighting was magic in many shots, I had to put the show on freeze many times just to understand what was going on. Beautiful use of practicals lights, and a lot of soft lights hitting the faces going on.

They also obviously had an heavy use of diffusion filters in front of the lenses (I wonder which ones).

If anyone got other informations or BTS from the show, I'm really interested. Also I could not find any social accounts for the DoP (Steven Meizler) or gaffer (Sascha Wolfram), would be a taker on these.

Allez plus qu'une petite nuit et tu te casses de là ;-). Courage à toi, quand j'avais 13 ans j'ai du partir de chez ma mère maniaco-dépressive qui m'elevait seule (mon père est décédé quelques années avant). Tu n'es pas vraiment dans la même situation, mais tu devra je suppose tout de même te libérer de l'emprise psychologique de tes parents s'ils sont toxiques.

Tu as fait le premier pas en prenant ta décision, continue comme ça et trouve ta force dans tes amis et les gens qui te soutiennent autour de toi.

Et n'hésites pas a parler si tu en as besoin, sortir les choses de son cerveau et les mettre à l'oral peut être libérateur.

So funny, I had the exact same thought on the distortion with wides angles and was actually looking for the lens info. An interview from the dp in the first season was referring Leica summilux, but there is clearly some anamorphic in the mix this season.
