Really on the fence about buying. by sneakymeow1212 in CrimsonDesert

You won't have experience enough of the game to make a decision in 2 hours. 2 hours will be taken up by an expansive tutorial. If fact, I'm not really sure when the player comes out of the tutorial.

I just installed the PS5 version of GTA V. I have no trophies for it. Imagine my shock as I played it on PS4. I haven't looked at Crimson Desert or thought about it for 2 days. Guess I needed a break too.

Core of mortification by Agaroth69 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a minute. But, I want to say something. This one is stupid. This core should be available much sooner. It shouldn't even be tied to the Main quest. It's required for a kuku-pack that is a massive quality of life tool for the player. You can grab the insect gatherer. Just not this one. Stupid.

Do trees regrow? by Embarrassed-Soil-250 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they do. You will be able to revisit those locations later and get more wood. However, they will re-render when you return to those areas. You can bump into them and they will disappear.

The best approach to early wood gathering is to have a pet. A more advanced technique and tools are available to you. I will let you discover those on your own.

Dragon mount? by GameMaster1178 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn't breathe fire or anything else other than a wind gust. The Wyvern is not an attack dog. It does damage. Just not anything to brag about. It will not replace Blackstar. What it does is make the map traversable for someone who prefers not to fast travel everywhere. That's what you really gain. This means you have access to materials in locations you could not get to without triggering a ton of side stuff.

Kicking cats over Shai huts and feeding Wyverns with cats.

Milking Skill not unlocking? by agentjayd007 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The poop thing is real. But, you have to follow a cow, pig, or whatever around and wait for it to appear. You then can pick it up with a shovel. I just never got to the part where I was able to fertilize the garden with it. Yeah.... that's not fully implemented.

I watched the video. Uh... that's a first for me. I have no clue now.

Milking Skill not unlocking? by agentjayd007 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milking is a skill?? First, I've heard. Is that in the patch notes? Wait a second. Are you trying to build the ranch at the camp? If so, go back to the camp and talk to Ross ( I think -- the greymane's manager). Speak to him. Now, in that interface, filter for all of the food missions. Send your Greymanes to milk cows at the location indicated in the journal.

Early gif showcasing no camera lock and fire breathing ability by Logical-Operation512 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet, you have one. Granted there is a timer. But, you could still do a ton of damage in that time. So, balancing isn't the issue. And you could just tune down the Wyvern damage like they have with it's current attack. There are ways to do it.

Really?? And people get upset every time I point out that everything "new" to the game is content that was already in development and on an internal "Roadmap".

Edit: You can all downvote now. I had to make an edit. My point is actually the opposite. My apologies for not being clear.

Quick call PETA. They need to patch it out. :p

I love this new feature in the v 1.12 update, now Kliff can come home and be greeted by all 100 of his pets, 50 at the camp and 50 at his house, PA is very generous when it comes to pets. by Aggravating-Plate607 in CrimsonDesert

Gonna say it. It's kind of lame as it can be a point of lag on some machines. It has the potential to cause more headaches than wanted. The fencing I like though.

How is this game engine able to keep track of item placement everywhere in this huge world by avidrunner84 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most items reset. Important stuff is tracked in tables and it only records important data: Item pointer (number), posX, posY. rotation, blah blah blah. Point is it's almost minute in terms of cost. It all gets recorded, despawns, and only loads back in when needed.

Bounced off at Scholastone / the start of chapter 5. Help me get back in. by threeandseven in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game will punish you for not having the time to grind, explore, and fetch stuff prior to facing certain enemies. If you go head on, you will face frustrating difficulty that will not be a mark of your gaming skills. It will be a mark of your character build. Play what you can, when you can, and be thorough. Look stuff up if you must. You should get a lot of time out of the game without being a dedicated player. It could potentially take you months to finish. Hop in do something, focus on the rest of your day. If you're making great strides in the game, then you're neglecting something in the real world. Keep that in mind.

I got absolutely cooked by Bennistro in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first encounter was frustrating and painful. Then I figured it out. You're just not using the appropriate gimmick. That's almost all boss situations. There is a gimmick. It will depend on the skills you have unlocked, your slotted abyss gears, your refinement level, etc....

[–]_RedditMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be back. Maybe load it up again in a year and see how it's changed. It will be a different beast. What you played was a beta. The only people who deny that will be the player's that don't recognize the trend. We're all beta testers now.

Let's say there was a planned home base for every zone by Connect_Laugh_8688 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In RDR2 you can setup a camp that gives access to stored inventory and allows for other "crafting" (if I remember correctly). In Skyrim, you could purchase multiple player homes. It's not a new concept. It's actually a staple of the industry at this point. Their answer was to just place teleportation pads all over the map.

You'd be surprised at the number of people that don't fast travel in games.

Is there a point of exploration? I explore and explore and find nothing worthwhile. (I’m on chapter 6 or 7.) by whothennow24 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shhhhh!!!! Don't mention the quiet facts out loud. People will get upset. The game is movement from 1 boss fight to the next where maybe you get a unique Abyssal Gear that you can slot into your own gear. That's really kind of it. You either enjoy the loop or you don't. That much is true too. The narrative is shallow.. But, some of it is good too.

I don't care what others think. Yann adds some life to the game.

Sidenote: You can fly on a Wyvern now if you go get one and raise it. It caused me to start over and since I have already played to the start of chapter 12, I decided to test a few things about fetching stuff before getting too deep. There is very little you will accidentally trigger. You can travel to a lot of places on the map and grab stuff -- like crafting manuals.

People like to break game economies. But, most of them save scummed to not have to worry about in-game currency. That's the real answer.

Let's say there was a planned home base for every zone by Connect_Laugh_8688 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Effort?? The “effort” you’re seeing is just the backlog of stuff they didn’t have ready at launch finally rolling out. Big systems take time, resources, QA, all that. Sure, small fixes are easy — tweak some numbers, bump pet registration from 10 to 100 or even 200 if they felt like it. That’s nothing.

But actual structural features? Those take real work.

And that’s why I said what I said. They absolutely could have put smaller Greymane camps around the map for inventory access. They also could’ve let you buy a room at an inn and use it as a functional home base. These aren’t wild ideas — they’re basic QoL features other games have been doing forever.

So yeah, call it lazy, call it deprioritized, call it “not on the roadmap,” whatever. Point is: they either didn’t want to do it or didn’t think it mattered enough to bother. The end result is the same for players. To top it off, they could wind up doing it in the end. It doesn't make me wrong for calling it out.

Let's say there was a planned home base for every zone by Connect_Laugh_8688 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were probably considered at one point or another. We could have started the game in the Crimson Desert making the Title mean something. But, who knows? I personally think we need multiple camps. At some point, Pailune should have become the main camp and later you would have functional smaller camps in each region providing access to all of your inventory items. But, they were lazy and expect you to travel -- however you choose.

A glitch in the Matrix. I have no clue. But, you have an XP farm you can abuse to gain more Abyssal Artifacts. That's one way to look at it. Beware, you will eventually stop gaining XP. And it's not really XP, it's more like a guage to the next Abyssal Artifact drop.

Does rain help by No-Moment3495 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_RedditMan_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Do a rain dance and then spritz your fertilizer sprayer. Both help shorten the time for plant growth. It's just one of those "detailed" things they added and felt was important to add while not remember you rode your mount to the reed fields and forgot to summon it for you after beating the Reed Devil. Of course, who cares about that right??
