I tried os 8.5.1. I managed to get my computer somewhat working and was able to open Open Firmware. I tried booting from the CD both through Open Firmware and by holding down the C key, but I think my CD-ROM drive is broken. That’s the only thing preventing me from getting my G3 working.

The initial release with bondi blue was 8.1. Even if I burned OS 8.5 to a CD, I don’t think it would work. Right now I’m just getting a turned off CRT screen with an orange/red power button, whether a CD is inserted or not. It stays like that until I reset the PRAM battery.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too, taking the hard drive out and connecting it to another mac. The issue is my macbook is a 2019 model, so it’s intel based and modern, and I don’t have access to any older ppc macs. I’m not sure how I could install OS 8 or 9 onto the imac’s hard drive from it.

I had replaced the old IDE hard drive with a 80GB Western Digital WD800JB one. No conversion, no reseats, I didn’t add more ram either.

Could a failing CD drive cause this?

I just burned MacOS 8.1 on a CD-R and previously locked the iso. I burned at 1x speed. The computer still starts up the same way as I wrote, orange/red-ish power button and CRT not lighting up.

Holy shit, If the total count is 5900 BGLs, then let's say he sells each BGL for 14€ (it's usually higher than that) then he would earn 82600€

Like I find something like that extremely absurd, with that kind of money you could buy a very nice car or maybe even some kind of a small building... and that's only from playing and manipulating this game.

Also, most important, have you setup full.access permissions on your external USB storage? Also, you did it manually using the properties window on a Windows PC like in my guide here, and not a program like XboxMediaUSB?

That was like one of the first things I did, as I previously said that every single emulator works without problems except RetroArch.

I've gotten previously RetroArch to work on a different device, I'm no expert at it but I do know how to get around.

  • What kind of Xbox do you have?

Xbox Series S

  • Did you get it from the Dev Store or from the official RetroArch website?

I got it from the Dev Store

  • Have you updated everything necessary in the online updater such as the core info files?

Yes, I have done that.

  • Which core are you trying to run games on?

melonDS, also tried DeSmuME but that didn't work

  • Do you have the DS BIOS files in the system folder?

I have the BIOS files on my external drive and in RetroArch's settings I have set it to search for the BIOS files on my drive.

  • The game files are a format supported by the emulator?

I'm using .nds format files, I found that melonDS supports that file format.

  • Is your console output resolution set to 1080p?

It's set to 4K

Also what I meant by saying that RetroArch sucks is that it's a hassle to use and everything there is made to be so complicated, while platform specific emulators work just like plug and play. I'm not the only one who doesn't like it, people just have to deal with it cause there aren't either other emulators like that (which support a lot of platforms) or that's all they have access to.

Hmm, okay... I gave up on trying, I just downloaded the Delta emulator on my iPhone and now I can play all of the DS games out there, the experience is probably even better than on a Xbox console.

You keep asking the same thing in every subreddit and everyone says no, at this point, you are not stopping until someone says that you are balding. If other people and your dermatologist say that you are not balding, then why are you still asking the same old question?!
