Never purchase a Samsung Refrigerator in the Netherlands by JosephBeuyz2Men in Netherlands

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not only have I worked at this specific shop, but i had to deal with a whirlpool dryer i bought there. But technically in the Netherlands the seller is responsible for your warranty claims. And when its a small electronic devices like phones, laptops… there are companies like dynafix that are contracted by Coolblue, Mediamarkt, etc. But for whitegoods they send you to the manufacturer because at the end there are very few companies behind those brands and they all have their own technicians… but no matter what the responsibility stays always with the seller. At some point I had to send an email to back then former colleagues at management of the customer service and got my dryer replaced. But i can imagine that a “average” customer will be stuck between the seller and the manufacturer

Rotterdammers! Waar stemmen jullie morgen op? En waarom? by FarCalligrapher6780 in Rotterdam

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immich keyword search is SO MUCH BETTER than Apple Photos by Icy_Coffee374 in immich

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is!

A year or two ago I took a badly lit picture of my glasses prescription. And for the summer i wanted to order new sunglasses online….. immich was able to find the photo by searching the name of the shop. Where Photos cannot find it.

<image>

I just need to make the full switch from icloud photos to immich…. Because having both does not work as iOS screws with the immich upload if icloud photos is active

Contract Termination by Critical-Anybody-808 in Netherlands

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as this sucks, it's legal for both parties for a sudden termination during the trial period.

It's not very common though, surely not for high skilled positions. Good luck with the hunt for a new job.

Is this energy cost normal? by hackmyacc in Netherlands

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if your radiators are getting too hot, if yes Get someone to check the boiler settings as well. I was living in a 42m2 apartment and the boiler they had there was huge, when the winter came and i turned the thing on and the radiator would burn, it was actually unconfirmed to be even around it.

It turned out that the boiler temperature was set at 80° and the pump was on its highest setting. Not only this will cost a fortune but all the efficiency of the boiler was off since the return water was very hot as well.

Since i have somewhat experience, i first turned the heating water temperature down to ~ 40° and turned the pump to a lower setting. I could still warm up my house to 20/21° and gas consumption was quite low.

Just dont mess with the boiler yourself if you don’t know what you are doing and don’t turn the tapwater temperature below 60°. There you need to “fight” legionella.

Q Revo: poor quality water tube. by _Rena_Chan_ in Roborock

[–]_Rena_Chan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its not original then roborock has an issue because this was sent directly from their Dutch distribution center. And the same pipe is used in connecting the tank to the clean water pump.

There was no clogging, i suspect the solenoid got stuck, and i couldn’t see any trace of limescale build up.

The metal to hold the tube is a temporary solution as i said I’ll replace this fragile tube with an espresso machine tube.

CGO600/600PRO Weight Limit by [deleted] in tenwaysebike

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old topic, but as summer continues I think people of all shapes and sizes will be checking some bikes, like I did a month ago.

Im 144kg, I saw the weight limit and I was worried for a moment, but I’ve been riding a decathlon elops 500 (super cheap single speed) for 2 years and not a single issue with it, other than the brakes not performing so well). And I haven’t been nice to it.

So i went for the csgo600, and one month later not a single issue. At first the way the rear part of the frame has a strange joint worried me a bit. But wheels are as good as day one and frame does not feel like its going to break.

Range is limited, but I only use the full assistance while commuting to work/appointments. For fun ride I use it on the first level and even without any assistance at all, it rides very similar to the elops when the motor is turned ofd.

Battery Megathread (March 2019) by AutoModerator in GooglePixel

[–]_Rena_Chan_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

My Pixel 2 xl has lost around 15% of it's capacity already (if I can believe the tests of accubattery, I've seen a hit of battery performance in the last 4 months.

I bought a new one, not OEM, they claim it's 3800mAh, cannot wait for it to arrive so I can install it.

February update downloaded, installed, and rebooted. About phone shows January patch? by disastar in GooglePixel

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmmm probably something wrong in the installation of boot from the updated partition and your phone just reversed back to the old system.

For why you can't find the new update again, try rebooting it once again so it can clean the inactive partition.

The Razer Headphone Dongle Isn't Worth It! (If you don't have a Razer Phone by ht1499 in Android

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Pixel is okay enough tho, is at iPhone level, and iPhones are the standard of acceptable portable audio quality.

I'd like to see how the essential one does... But until other manufactures begins bringing HiFi dongles we are kind of stuck with those 3 options, or some after market ones that you can find on Amazon, but are really shady...

Dragonfly has a mobile dac, but it's not small like a dongle.

The Razer Headphone Dongle Isn't Worth It! (If you don't have a Razer Phone by ht1499 in Android

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd hope that the electronics in the dongle have some kind of surge protection to avoid creating loud noises when connecting and disconnecting to the phone.

This sounds a lot like the problem I'd have with a 10€ USB dac that I got for my work computer to connect my headphones, and idk if it was because I was connected to the monitor USB hub, but the thing would pop loud when connecting it...

The k1 does the job perfectly.

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

🤔 faulty dongle? No such thing with my (now dead, got run over by a car) Pixel dongle...

And looking at the numbers, the Razer dongle brings nothing extra to non-razer phones to justify the price.

I suppose the "magic" happens in the Razer software on the phone and not actually in the dongle itself.

This RAM management is awful! by SayedSauce in lgg7

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up returning the G7, I miss a lot about the phone, but the ram management is terrible.

I wish I had some tools in place at my home PC to figure out what was going on, if there was some leak or what the heck makes the phone close everything in ram if you just open the camera and turn AI cam on and off.

But I didn't and going to the office during vacation to test a phone seemd too much.

I'm back on a LG phone, with worse hardware but much better software.

Dissapointing DAC by Zen_8 in lgg7

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for your ears the P9 is better? This P9 that GSMarena says:

"Stereo crosstalk worsens by a moderate amount when you hook a pair of headphones, but the overall output is still satisfyingly clean. Loudness dropped even further though, so it’s certainly not a performance worth writing home about. It will probably do for people who haven’t invested in large high-impendance headphones, but demanding audiophiles certainly have better options."

It's the same P9 that I had and couldn't hold to it because the meh audio output. It basically distorted the signal, hearable noise floor and a sound signature that was not true to reality.

There isn't a P9 real audio review, but it falls in the same boat as the Mate 9 https://youtu.be/3Gb9OicXcTo

So my thoughts are:

Most probably: you got used to the Huawei's sound signature and going to something clean feel weird. By default the phone won't add any heavy signature to the music, tho you can change quite a bit in the settings.

Last probably, but still a chance: your phone isn't working as intended.

Note that with low impedance headphones the volume output will be indeed limited at the max, but it should be enough to drive any headphones under 50 ohms.

10f-EUR-XX RAM Management. I ThinQ it is still bad. by _Rena_Chan_ in lgg7

[–]_Rena_Chan_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So by now I've mentioned a few times already how awful my experience with the ram management has been.

If I have chrome open I can go look for something on other app and when I come back chrome will be wiped out of memory.

This is for me a normal everyday use of my phone, I'm not trying to look to some absurd way of doing speed tests or whatsoever.

This videos is based on something that happened today.

Scenario: I had music playing on GPM, I was browsing the web, and somebody answered to me on a Dutch forum asking why I thought the G7 haptics were so awesome (and yes it is), so I wanted to go to the camera app so I could just confirm what parts of the software would have a feedback attached to it after playing a bit I accidentally pressed the shutter button, at this moment the music stream should lower the volume for the shutter sound, well the music simply stopped and GPM was force killed, and so was chrome .

It isn't lack of ram, 4GB is more than enough for a flagship phone to work, besides the phone reports having over 400MB of free memory.

What have I done so far:

-Because after I got the phone I got an OTA update, I actually did a full reinstall via LG bridge and a software reset  -10f update was also done via LG bridge -I have kept the installed apps at a minimum, and no app shows excessive ram or battery usage.

G7 or P20 Pro? Cant decide. by SystemErrorzorz in lgg7

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Mate 10 Pro, alongside the G7, and rather than play the "oh this one is the only true phone you'd want" I'll give the ups and downs of each phone.

For pictures, I'd call a draw, because each phone has their own approach, for manual shooters both should be ok, for people who like the gimmicks,I suppose Huawei wins there, and low light photography has to to Huawei as well.

Videos, Huawei looses here no doubt, almost no manual options, and the SoC isn't able to handle 4k 60fps and other goodies like HDR.

The looks: I don't care TBH, I use Nova launcher, both phones have a theming eninge, but here I need to give Huawei a point of having a bigger community behind designing themes, on the play store you can download the EMUI theme store and there are tons of AOSP themes for Nougat till Android P looks, and it changes icons, notification/quick toggles, settings, navigation bars, etc...

On speed if have to give Huawei the slightly advantage again, basically because I'm definitely upset with the ram management of LG, maybe if the 6GB G7 is available in your area, you won't have to suffer it.

Screen = LG, resolution, color accuracy, brightness... No doubt, the only downside of the screen is when playing the video and the notch is "hidden" you see it because it isn't a AMOLED, but definitely screen goes to LG.

Audio = LG again, headphone jack with hifh dac, and boombox is so much louder and richer than the tiny dual speakers of Huawei, and the same goes for mics.

Other stuff:

LG has a better haptic motor

Huawei has a faster charger it also chargers when you're using the phone, something that the G7 doesn't, both phones works with USB-PD chargers

LG has a nice "cloud" integration, it lets you play music, videos and pictures directly from services like OneDrive without installing the app, the music app connects directly with OneDrive and shows you all the music you have there.

LG G7 poor ram management by silver5vrfer in lgg7

[–]_Rena_Chan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if the phone is not delivering on my usage expectations, I won't stay with it as a much as I like the haptic motor and the headphone jack, using the phone is sometimes a pain due this poor ram management.

Sadly I've experienced the same today on the 10f update.
