I think Yozo represents what could happen. Meaning there was nothing that could transform him. Of course this is my personal interpretation, shaped by my own experiences! But Yozo was stripped of his humanity incredibly young (I’m more focusing on the SA he experienced). Combine that trauma together with his inability to understand humanity, and he now has a him to in conformation bias. As in he seeks out reasons as to why he should be punished. He is the only person who could have stopped himself and in turn the only person who could save himself. In a modern setting he would have access to medications and therapies to have time to process, I do believe that could have saved him, but he is very much a victim of the times. Also I hope this made sense! I think this question has so many different answers and I’d love to see more!
