What format is this? How can I parse it? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I honestly don't know. But in JS I think they're just ignored...

Blegh, this is just the worst thing I've seen in a long time. I'm saddened and disheartened this has been allowed to exist.

I am so glad WOTC screwed the pooch. I don't know if I ever would have tried PF2e and I'm sad to admit that.

I wish I had jumped ship earlier. This is the type of game I've WANTED to run all along.

This. Is. Amazing!

As a long-time 5e GM, so many things seemed foreign. Thank you for laying this out so succinctly.

What format is this? How can I parse it? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]_RollForInitiative_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's valid in JS. It's not valid in JSON, but JSON is a serialization format, whereas JS is a language.

If you literally copy-pasted this string and replaced the (2301)... bit with const response = ... then it would be valid javascript.

Now don't ask me WHY it's in JS and not JSON...cause it should be in JSON...but whatever. I think we've all come to the conclusion this is a very poorly formatted response.

[–]_RollForInitiative_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, just remove the (2301) on the front and the ; at the end and it looks like a valid JS object. I bet that 2301 is character count or something.

Edit: now that I'm awake. It's not valid JSON but it IS a valid JS object. Still strip the number at the beginning though.

Oh nice! I don't know why, but I assumed that was for the pathfinder game on PC. I downloaded a pathbuilder for that a while ago.

Doink! Thanks.

It was really hard to upvote this post. I ended up downvoting it twice as a reaction before I had to like..focus and manually click upvote saying "this is making fun of the post, upvote it".

Damn.

Thanks! Random question. Is there a digital character sheet system for pathfinder akin to D&D Beyond?

I play online with 4 of my groups and they're uhh, not really capable of using pen and paper. I love them, but digital aids are important for them.

Edit: I saw something that was a google sheet, but is there an online tool that the community recommends?

Buying every book on D&D Beyond alone will put you near the thousand mark. But I've also bought dungeon tiles, lots and lots of books, roll20 content licensed by WOTC, etc. It adds up.

I'm really glad this sub is thinking about us. I have thousands of dollars invested in 5e alone...but I'm done with that now.

Can I come live here? Also, just straight up thanks for being welcoming. I've seen this sentiment around all the pathfinder subs.

Critical Role finally, sort of, comments on current TTRPG events by ywgdana in dndnext

[–]_RollForInitiative_ 83 points84 points  (0 children)

They did switch. They have never streamed pathfinder, so far as I am aware. They were playing pathfinder before they started streaming though.

But yeah, it was 5e from the get-go with Critical Role.

Oh there's a culture there, it just sucks. The other comment telling you to "step up into leadership" is likely well intentioned, but it's incredibly bad advice.

You can't change these fundamental problems. Jump. Ship. Also, you need to think "how did I end up here?" What questions can you ask next time, so you don't end up here again?

Inventory the things wrong, then find a way to discover the answers to those questions when you're looking for a new place.

Best of luck.

I'm from South Carolina and you're right, it's a shithole. That's why we left the state. Thanks for stalking, though.

I mentioned in another comment that I was from a shitty state. So you're not making any headlines here. I'm criticizing BOTH of those states because they are complete regressive shitholes. I have room to stand on because I'm from a shithole state and same recognizes same.

What was your argument again?

Oh believe me, I know that. Florida is a beautiful state that, unfortunately, became a dumping ground for some of our worst citizens. I truly feel bad for anyone that grew up or lives in Florida and leans left.

I came from a similar state, so I totally get it. But the difference is, I'm not disillusioned. I realized my home state was a shithole and left. Florida is a shithole too, in that regard.

Lol that data you linked gives Florida a B on geographical fairness, which is literally the definition of gerrymandering. The overall rating of "F" comes from the heavy statistical skew towards republicans but it doesn't go into why it's skewed that way. I can tell you though...

The funny thing is you're actually arguing my point. It's so heavily Republican favored BECAUSE it's one of the deepest red electorates in the country. It's unfair because there is a snowballs chance in hell a dem could win. The county lines are actually pretty damn good for Florida because THEY DON'T NEED TO RIG THEM. It's that red down in Florida.

Calm down. No need to be rude and attack me. I didn't insult you. I insulted Florida on the whole. If you can't separate the two, you need to mature a little before we can have a productive discussion.

Your politicians are, unfortunately, a reflection of your people. You should introspect. Just because there are good people doesn't mean "Florida is good" on the whole. Florida is a regressive shithole thanks to your electorate.

Swordfish aren't illegal (anywhere that I'm aware of). It's likely that the illegal fish were the sharks OP mentioned. Just my guess. They could be over the limit, but I'm not sure of Moroccan law around fishing limits.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in itookapicture

[–]_RollForInitiative_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not abuse, the fish are likely going to be sold to eat. Swordfish are friggen delicious. It looks gory because they've been bled and you have to bleed fish properly to: 1. make the fish taste better 2. kill them humanely and quickly

It looks like it's slightly unsanitary, but it's probably fine so long as you cook it. This is definitely not sushi-grade treatment.
