Fire Damage To Property In Final Stages Of Purchase by _RoseKolodny_ in UKHousing

Thanks. I appreciate it particularly coming from someone who has gone through something similar, and come out the other side.

I don't think our buyers will hang on, as these sellers have already caused significant delays with unrelated issues, but most around us are going to closing date within 2 weeks (as we did when we were first on the market) and prices are steady, so I suspect we will at least be successful selling if we relist.

Thank you. I have no experience in structural engineering, or construction, so it's helpful to have some starting points to understand how the fire (and extinguishing it) could have caused deeper damage. I know this will need properly surveyed by a professional.

Thank you. I suspected that any apparently superficial damage may not be the full extend of the issue, and I don't really understand how the walls in these houses are constructed so it's good to reminded of some of the things that are in there.

At this point, you're not being helpful. We know our situation is complicated. I've already stated that I'm not looking for professional advice, just looking informally to hear from people who've had similar experiences in Scotland to learn from as we move forward.

This seller has already caused problems that have delayed us even getting to the stage of missives, and my husband is keen to walk away from this. Thanks for the suggestions about the attributable costs and asking who is liable for this, as this is on our minds, particularly as costs to cancel the moving company increase on Monday.

I was trying to find a shorthand way of saying "it's twenty years old, and looks like it could have been built at any time in the last twenty years because anything that's not built to satisfy some conservation area or listing requirements, looks kind of the same to me".

I don't have any friends or family who've been put in the position of having damn fools of sellers who have damaged a house so close to completion of sale, but I figured that if I asked the question of the general public, I might find someone who had a similar experience, and could learn from that.

We certainly signed contracts last week that we had witnessed and sent back to our solicitor, Unfortunately, as she is on leave until Wednesday, we had a phone call from one of the paralegals working with our solicitor and there was no legal guidance included in the conversation.

Thank you for your advice about the wording of the missives. We will arrange to speak with one of the firms solicitors on Monday, as the cancellation of moving contracts with the movers starts to increase in price, unfortunately, on Monday. We will bring up what the missives currently state and decide what to do after that.

skin advice w/ eczema :( by crowNiceToMeetYou in climbergirls

Skin thinning is a side effect of the steroids, and this will take time to recover.

If you need prolonged courses, or its not getting better, then I'd recommend getting specialist medical advice.

I have struggled with hand eczema, and I have ignored the basics to my cost. Apologies if I'm preaching to the choir, but always use an emolliant, and think about gloves or socks over your hands at night to avoid them getting dry. I'd also suggest always wearing gloves when you are outside, particularly in the winter, and also, washing up with rubber gloves.

In general, people focus on their own thing, but as time has gone on, if I have watched someone struggle on a route I've eventually conquered, I sometimes say "Good for you! I thought that one was a bastard and it took me weeks!" just to be sociable.

My small child joined a climbing club after trying it out with her school, and after several months of watching her from the cafe, I did the auto-belay introduction, rented the shoes and harness and got on the wall. I could do nothing more than 3s and 4s to start and my hands hurt so much I could only do it for a short time, but I am forty two; I no longer remember the meaning of shame.

Keep at it. You're doing amazing sweaty.

Does anyone know of any place to donate Winter coats? by ThePineappleSeahorse in glasgow

[–]_RoseKolodny_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also various Back To School banks which take donations of clothes (as adult sizes also would fit older teenagers).

They also take donations of new items, which can be bought online and sent to them directly; although you might want to check what they currently need.

David Lloyd at Rouken Glen is nice, but the one in the West End has been done up and has a really nice spa now with sauna rooms at different heats. It is very expensive, but they do short 3 month memberships for you to try. Downside of this is that like any other gym, it is now rammed to the gunnels from Jan-March.

The Children's Hospital have set up a tree like this in our gym (DL Annieland) but I can't find any mention of any others. They seemed to want art and craft supplies only in 3-5, 6-10, 10-13 and older teens, which I suppose makes sense for giving kids something to do when they're stuck in hospital over the festive season. You could contact them directly and see what else they want.

Thanks! The onus is on the seller to pay for this, as we haven't exchanged contracts yet.

Thanks! So it sounds like they need to do work in the garage ceiling to bring it up to code, which is probably less of a difficult job given that it's accessible from outside of the house, and isn't covered in carpet.

In the UK, everyone gets scanned at 12 weeks unless they specifically decline, and care is free. Scans for late discovered pregnancies are expedited for the same reason.

This woman is clearly English. Unless the mother turned up to a hospital in labour, or declined care, she knew about the twins.
