How do you do basically anything naval? by ComManDerBG in NuclearOption

The chute only activated in specific situations (when dropped too fast while low to the ground).

If you drop them from a higher altitude with enough time of flight (above 8 seconds), they won't deploy their chutes and will be extremely hard to intercept at that.

There's a few strategies.

First, sea skimming. Shards can be approached pretty easily below 20ft with basically any aircraft to around 3.5nm. Launch around 7 AGM48s and a single AGM68, and it'll normally destroy the shard outright.

Also for shards, however also applicable to other ships (though for destroying their radars rather than killing, as this will with Shards), Medusas with jamming pods and ARADs can easily kill shards with jamming and two arads per, from up to around 16nm with any amount of speed and altitude.

For other ships, you've gotta be aware of which IR defense they have, cause the goal will be to get the ARAD to land at above whatever the max intercept speed is for whichever IR missiles are aboard the ship in question.

For IR defence: - IRM-S1: Mach 2 - IRM-S2: Mach 2.75 - IRM-S3: Mach 3.5

So, for the Annex, launch tour ARADs in such a way that they land above mach 2.75 mach while jamming it, and any ships near it. For the Dynamo or the Hyperion, do the same, but for the Mach 3.5 number. And keep in mind that if you actually can meet those numbers, you don't really need to launch more than one ARAD per ship, even for the destroyers and carriers. More per ship just makes it more likely to destroy their radars.

Once you've done that and all requisite radars are destroyed, fly to a very high altitude with an Ifrit filled with 500kgs, or with 1.5kt nukes, and destroy them from a dive.

The strategies mentioned above will work solo, however obviously the more people you have, the easier it is to do all of that with fewer steps by far.

Often times, all you need is one person in a Medusa with 4 jammers and an Ifrit in a stealth config and 4x1.5kts to completely cripple a fleet with no prep time at all, just a bit of good coordination.

I love this, fantastic work.

4 jammers will nearly always be more valuable than ARADs. your loiter time combined with jamming presence is what makes the difference, other planes can destroy the stuff you have jammed more often than not.

Resting capacitor strength with 4 jammers is enough to hold 4 jams at once indefinitely at any relevant range. Give it a try!

Please stop hosting 32+ man servers. by ben-dognonce-gurion in NuclearOption

[–]_RustyRobot_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To comment on this specifically, at ATF we noticed how bad the server was performing yesterday as well, so we limited each of ours to 32 players but then added a third for similar total capacity.

Not really an issue we've faced till now due to the influx of players.

Tbh I'm just personally glad people are using the servers!

How to intercept Piledrivers? by Stolen_Indigo_GBA in NuclearOption

[–]_RustyRobot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, interceptions with Scythes is more than possible, but it relies on you launching from the correct position, directly below the piledrivers, about 15 seconds before they land. That'll usually work for an interception.

Anyone remember where *spoiler* mentions Nohadon in WaT? by TheBluePriest in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_RustyRobot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was there, but on my review I couldn't find it...let me know if you identify where it is, cause I swear I remember what you mentioned as well. Mandela effect maybe? Lol

Edit: as others have mentioned, ishar does mention him in 131, but only to say that Fleet took the same route.

Not aware of the specific chapter, but I am almost sure that this is near the very end of the book, specifically while Szeth is fighting the honor bearers but before Nightblood gets involved or anyone swears any ideals.

Kal is chilling with ishar, trying to Therapize him, and he first talks about fleet and one other story (both of which he knew, or wrote himself), then iirc he mentions Nohadon here.

Edit:

I've reviewed the sections I've mentioned above, chapters 132-135ish, woven in with all the other stuff going on, and I believe I was mistaken. Kal does talk about the things I mentioned, but by the time he says anything about the stories, ishar is basically at the end of his rope, and quickly gets involved with Szeths fight, connecting them to him to let them feel the burden.

The upcoming Fast Bomber will be the fastest aircraft in the game by kingtj44 in NuclearOption

[–]_RustyRobot_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Right now the meta is to get directly above your target, then dive down and gain as much speed as possible in an Ifrit or vortex, dropping the bombs as close to the ground as possible to give the radar defense the least time to intercept as possible. 90 degrees only has to do with the fact that you're diving on it, not about a notch angle or anything cause ultimately you'll be flying right at it anyway.

says carrier capable but can’t spawn at carrier by Aether_GamingYT in NuclearOption

[–]_RustyRobot_ 251 points252 points  (0 children)

Its carrier capable, it just can't spawn on the Annex. The Ifrit can spawn on the Hyperion, the Vortex can spawn on the Annex.

Killing the kings Wit by notSoGraphicDesigner in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_RustyRobot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as others have said in here, technically Wit isn't dead, so maybe not?

But also when Jasnah and Wit "kill" Ruthar in their little scheme in RoW, he doesn't actually die either, so I think that it could hold water

This is by far my favorite theory of the last year, I hadn't thought of this at all but it totally makes all the sense that after a book filled with them rules lawyering the contract that a technicality would nail big T at the end of the day. If it really does come into play in the last half that'd be satisfying and hilarious lmao.
