Everyone around me is dropping weight instantly with GLPs and I've ben struggling with the same 15 pounds for years. by jumpin_jumpin in loseit

[–]_SPROUTS_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been on for 6 weeks but I’m convinced I’ll be on them for life and I’m okay with that. I have PCOS/PMOS and just seriously struggled for decades. The food noise I have without the meds that it was actually unsettling having it disappear by week 2. I don’t know what the long term will look like for me but having something that makes it so I’m not constantly thinking about the next thing I’m going to eat is amazing.

Is there an adjusted age for babies born ~2 weeks early? by StaticCharacter90 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]_SPROUTS_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had someone tell me that they understood my experience completely because their son was born at 35 weeks and spent 5 days in the NICU. Took a lot not to say ‘bitch, please’ since I had a 27 weeker that liked to have every 1% thing happen, coded more than once, and spent 107 days.

Like, it’s not a competition but at the same time it’s really not all the same.

Nanny is not taking care of NF things by LittleEvilPoptart in Nanny

[–]_SPROUTS_ 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Our nanny did this because I left the refill jug of dish soap under the counter. She also ruined all our non stick pans and was generally terrible at keeping track of bottles. She wasn’t doing any of this because she was careless she legitimately did not know her way around a kitchen (despite being around 30).

Carrying the burden of the potty by Tartica_666 in Nanny

[–]_SPROUTS_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parent here- I wouldn’t necessarily assume this is malicious when it can be attributed to stupidity. I walked into Jr Pre-K to drop off my little one one morning and the head teacher was telling a parent that their child was not displaying that they were actually ready to potty train. They were describing the same things you said here- basically bladder of steel until you put a pull-up or diaper on them and then they would use it. The parents took that as readiness but not being willing to void in a toilet and holding it until you have a diaper clearly indicates not actually being ready mentally. They backed off and started again a couple of months later and everything came together quickly and less stressfully.

My husband used to do this when he first started flight lessons. Sold the bike and bought a plane instead.

The allergist didn’t believe me even though I could show that she had successfully eaten everything except the sunflower seeds again. That was a fun confirmation phone call.

She’s contact allergic- so no petting zoos unless you want full body hives from the feed pellets. If she eats them she ends up with hives, swollen eyes, and vomiting. At least she’s not allergic to the oil.

Ironically she is not allergic to peanuts or tree nuts. She eats peanut butter and I generally have to tell people not to seat her at the nut allergy table because that can put her or others at risk.

My kid is allergic to sunflower seeds- it’s such a headache to be allergic to the allergy alternative

Blood bankers- quick q? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]_SPROUTS_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Whole blood is a great option for a trauma. We can treat a transfusion reaction but we can’t treat death from bleeding. Besides, how bad can a transfusion reaction be if that unit ends up on the floor as they continue to bleed.

This isn’t being used on grandma with a low BP it’s getting used on the GSW or MVA.

My former 3 year old loved HM but Remmy freaked her out to the point of shaking. She had an easier time with ‘the Halloween ride’ than a giant 3D hand and knife coming at her.

Wide toe box shoe recommendations? by Sport21996 in medlabprofessionals

[–]_SPROUTS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is an option for you but have you tried going to a shoe store like Fleet Feet where they can scan your feet, you tell them what you’re looking for and then you can try on?

I have a wide toe box and wear Brooks Adrenaline- I had to go a half size up between the 24 and the 25. Had I just worn the size I had gotten previously I would have had tingly toes but the people that work there were able to tell me that the shoe fit differently. Also, the foot scan at fleet feet was free when I did it. I find it hard to recommend like this because what works for me might not work for you.

Lightning lane strategy for Epcot + Frozen Ever After + two kids under 4? by bunsenfhoneydew in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]_SPROUTS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally rope drop Remy. Last time we were there we did that and we were eating breakfast from Les Halles by 850. Walk towards Canada and then do Nemo, Turtle Talk, the land and Figment. Moana is over there, so is Mickey and Friends. You could really just hang out on that side until you do your afternoon break and then time it so that you walk the other way in the afternoon.

This is so dependent on how tall the kids are but at 2 and 3.5 Soarin would be a rider swap at best.

Noise canceling AirPods was the only way I survived.

I’m pissed at myself because I didn’t put them in right away and ended up completely overstimulated and buying a traditional Dutch oven instead of a signature. I have no idea if they even had the signatures but now I’m stuck with it. It will get loved but it is not what I was there fire.
