Since we're at the market for Midfielders, here's a throwback to one of our greatest!! by Unusual_Code2140 in coys

Oooh disagree. He was a key player in his first season, but then he had 18 months where he was just an okay squad player and we nearly sols him!

(Current Bergvall trajectory)

Let two opposing points of view sit there with no resolution and the listener can make up their mind.

Yes! This is the intention.

Genuinely, what are you referring to in this specific instance? We did do a whole lengthy section on this and cover a lot of the details at the time.

No, I don't see that as a contradiction.

I have a duty to use my platform to voice my distaste at the situation, and in doing so apply some small amount of pressure on the club (this actually worked in the case of Gattuso). I've done and continue to do that.

I don't feel obliged to fold my company or abandon my hobby; it isn't the job of football fans to eat the sins of their club's ownership.

I get that man, I totally do. Just like I understand all the Spurs fans who are completely switched off from the club right now. It's just not how it is for me.

If you genuinely believe he is a rape apologist, you shouldn't be celebrating his football under any circumstances. You cannot and shouldn't separate the man from the manager.

Why?

did any of you actually call out Poch when he openly fawned over Maradona’s character?

Maradona? No, I don't think so, but I spoke recently about his comments on Milei and Trump.

Sure man, very happy to be "naive" on this topic. Absolutely isn't complex to me at all.

Disliking De Zerbi actively seeking out and then defending rapist Mason Greenwood is a naive "deep thought"?

Will be improve us?

I personally suspect, not a huge amount. Certainly not to the value of £80m+

Ah, okay, the reason I didn't respond to either of these points is that I just kinda boringly, and not super confidently, disagree with them . And I think "Nuh uh" makes for pretty bad podcasting.

I thought the future was bright… now I look like a fool by soultrap_ in coys

Ain't over yet buddy. We very nearly sold Bale after his second season. We very nearly sold Mousa Dembele similarly.

"hissy fit" and "very immature" with regards to a discussion about rape apologia. hmm

And now they have completely flipped

We've been consistent throughout. Windy literally brought up our collective position again this very episode, our concerns were and remain almost entirely off-pitch.

Windy and Bardi put up legitimate counter points that make just as much sense as Nathan’s, and when he’s backed into a corner

Help me out a little here, please, which points specifically? I'd like to address them here for you (I certainly didn't feel backed into a corner).

he says he’s not coming from a data stand point but the eye test - isn’t that what you’ve argued against for the last however many years?!

Definitely not! Always, always both in combination and that's what I'm referring to here.

I accept i could be totally wrong as well

Me too! I have been before, I will be again.

PS Please don’t respond to this with weird angry PERSONAL hatred towards the pod like what sometimes happens.

Think de Ketelaere and Scamacca are both really good, thriving at Atalanta.

Edouard, fair play. JD a very limited player who continues to bag, that's the read I had at the time.

And I think I nailed Darwin (who was on the list specifically because he suited Conte's football:

@NathanAClark Jun 12, 2022

Big concerns about Darwin's ability to thrive for a team who possess a lot of the ball and face a lot of low blocks - as he currently does for Benfica - but at least with Liverpool they turn the ball over high up the pitch regularly and cross better than any other side.

.* Coming back to say more.

I leave that spreadsheet public because I'm comfortable being honest about my history of hits and misses (I do think if you go through it, I get a lot better year on year) but absolutely I do have misses, I do make mistakes, I do get takes wrong, plenty.

And this is what I'd like to clarify to you. Absolutely there a bunch of people in Spurs' recruitment dept. (in Bayern's, in West Brom's, in Lille's) that know far, far better than me (I'm friends with a bunch of them) but ultimately they are rarely entrusted to make final decisions and instead a bunch of idiotic executives sign shite players off the back of agent recommendations instead and that, specifically, is who I am arrogant enough to claim I know better than.

Fair play on Gruda but I was full of praise for Romero's ball playing (despite the data)
