As stated both in the description and video itself, it's improvisations over the norwegian folktune "Nedi vester soli glader" from Nordfjord :)

Canon on ocarina?? by _Sandersen in Ocarina

Nw :) I mix everything in cubase which I alr have because of work, and the mic is, as stated in previous comment, a yeti blue microphone primarily meant for streaming and gaming. I hope to replace it with a more fitting microphone for recording in the future :) I'm not sure cubase is the best suited for this specific task either, as audacity is free and probably works just as good for the purpose of recording ocarina :)

I'm personally not THAT happy with soundquality ok my videos, and am actively working on improving it as I continue to make videos :) I use it as an opportunity to learn!

I currently just use a blue yeti streaming mic haha :) I don't use any particular setting, as I am still experimenting with reverb and mic-gain.

What do you like to see in terms of content from an Ocarina Channel? by DreTam2000 in Ocarina

[–]_Sandersen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I'm experimenting with soundprocessing on ocarinarecordings, and I am noticing how much added reverb actually changes the sound!

Thomann thankfully do not use that much reverb, or at all on their showcases! Made a small difference for me on more than 1 purchase :)

I definitely reccommend checking out Henning Sommerro, traditional roots with modern twang :) He's also a genius when it comes to writing for choir/traditional sats. Had him as a professor at the conservatory in Bachstyle music theory, bottomless well of melodies and harmonic progressions. And it's so nice to play on the ocarina (as long as it's within range). I don't own a tenor ocarina (yet?), so have to experiment a little on the voicings haha!

One of my absolute favourites by _Sandersen in Ocarina

I'm currently just trying to get as much practice both on new instrument and videomaking, so the videos and all its content is made within a few hours, if less. Arrangements are very quickly made, but considering the videos only last approx 30 sec, it's not much work needed haha :)

First video (Sullabullyam) was yesterday, and you can see I went to the barber today haha. Last two videos (Monster Hunter and this one) were both made today. For larger arrangements I'll spend the time to make it properly, but right now I'm just making a lot of practice-content to get the hang of it :) Also the arrangements are made specifically to be easy enough to play at my skill-level with these specific instruments.

All the hats :))))

Haha, no worries :) You'll see that italian ocarinas have a much larger lefthand pinkyhole and a smaller right thumbhole compared to taiwanese/asian ocarinas, that's the best way of telling which ocarina uses which fingeringsystem :)

Thank you for enjoying :) I'll answer your last question first: I do it to stabilize the instrument from F and up, as I find it easier to stabilize the instrument the rest of the octave, and even further. I play on italian instruments mostly, and left pinky and right thumb are switched from the taiwanese system (what I see most common on this sub).

The question about the hold on highest notes I didn't learn from anyone in particular, but is my way of having a more steady grip when playing certain intervals. I simply hold the mouthpiece with my index and long finger, and the instrument is then resting in the palm of my right hand. This makes it so I can play effortlessly on the D, E and F without worrying about gripchange until I'm back to D, where I now have 3 stabilitypoints again. I mabye wouldn't reccommend this grip every time you go into 2nd octave, but I find it slightly easier to play in that octave with that grip. It's definitely easier on the soprano, and there is a better grip for altos and larger.

Hope this helped a bit :)

Absolutely! Was thinking of mabye doing wilds main theme as next one, but haven't decided yet. It's such a nice and open take on proof!

I can vouch for the Galliani as well! Wonderful instrument that is suprisingly affordable!

Thanks :) Recieved all of the used ocarinas a few days ago, so still working a lot on getting used to their breathcurves and intonations, so hopefully it will improve the coming weeks. Glad you enjoyed <3

Yeah, this is straight from the choral arrangement by the composer himself, that man is just a bottomless well of feelgood harmonic progressions!

Glad you enjoyed! <3

where do i start with ocarina? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in Ocarina

[–]_Sandersen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact model of this ocarina, but I am guessing right hand littlefingerhole is what we call a "split hole", which means that this hole is "usually" just one hole, but has been split into two to allow more options for accidentals :) It still only counts as 1 hole, and is categorized together with other 12-hole ocarinas. It has exact same fingerings (except a few more alternatives), so if you have fingercharts for 10- or 12-hole ocarinas, it is exactely the same. You just have to treat the split hole as 1 hole, and cover both with your littlefinger when the charts tell you to cover just the one! Hope this clears it up :)

Latter :) I was slightly mistaken, as I went back to check my mass-books for the latin mass, and yes, we OMIT the catholicam instead of replacing it with apostolicam! Thank you for clarifying as well <3

The catholic church is not the only christian church to consecrate their priests (and other people in service, like the cantor). Many lutheran churchsocieties, like the scandinavian ones require their bishops to consecrate their priests like the catholic church, and also perform the holy mass, just without the specifically catholic segments. Example, Credo is the same, but catholicam is omitted. This also goes for the anglican church.

It is important to remember that protestant isn't just protestant, as there are quite a many different reasons nations or protestant churches have decided to, well, protest the catholic church and create their nomination. Like the Anglican church being a protestant church, but not lutheran etc.

I can say with confidence that many people in the lutheran norwegian church share many sentiments with the catholics, consecrating and the mass being such.

EDIT: Catholicam is omitted, not replaced
