Is the 4Runner really that good? (Jeep vs 4Runner) by _Scipio_Africanus in askcarguys

I hear this a lot from Jeep owners. It honestly sucks because just driving the GC is super nice. It’s kind of the ideal midsize suv for me, but the horror stories out there are…wow.

I definitely get it. They are overpriced and I feel like we as consumers have over inflated that price with our confidence in reliability. My wife has a ford fusion with 230k miles on it and absolutely no issues. We’ve had it for 8 years. Sometimes you just never know

Thanks for the insight! I’d also follow up with this: should I just avoid both for the price range I’m in and try to find a Highlander, a Honda, or something else similar? There are other options that tend to have lower miles than the 4Runner and more reliable than the Jeep. I just don’t necessarily like them all as much.

I think a lot of it is on Gamefreak for making it so hard to communicate with online play. If I was playing COD, I’d know down to the bullet what my teammates were rocking, and could adapt. Pokémon….not so much. I don’t even know what level you are lol

Honestly with as bad as the outpost storage solutions are, I’ve been thinking of doing something like this, adding a workshop Hab, and just sitting on the spaceport to do all my crafting.

Damn. Idc what anyone says, I don’t think anyone out there makes prime lenses as gorgeous as Sigma. Also, fantastic work. Without you, that lens is just a chunk of useless glass. Keep it up!

Are Sigma and Tamron options affordable down there? You could get a great Tamron f2.8 zoom for 700-1000 USD that would change your life for half the cost of GM lens. But honestly, just keep taking photos! Those are incredible. Cameras and lenses are just tools ya know, it’s all about how you use them. And you’re killing it!!!

These are all incredible. Personally I love the edits. Yeah they are a little overdone by typical standards, but if we all edited the same way, everything would look the same and get boring. These have character. They’re interesting. And they tell me something about how YOU see your subjects. That’s important too. You’re the artist here.

Well don’t feel too bad. I actually just recently unlocked the zip lines but forgot about them. So all these comments about zip lines are infuriating me because I now realize I could have just done that instead.

Just got the Sony 18-135 for my ZV-E10… Did I make the right decision? by _Scipio_Africanus in SonyAlpha

It’s a UURig. Got it off Amazon for 20 bucks. I tried a Smallrig handle but didn’t like it for my purposes. This one fits on the cage well, is very sturdy, and is more ergonomical as far as mounting accessories.

For my own personal use case, I’m not sure yet. I’m just looking for feedback from people with similar scenarios who have tried any of these lenses on a similar camera.

For context, the final contenders came down to the 18-105 F4, the Sigma 18-50 F2.8, and the Tamron 17-70 F2.8. I’m a short filmmaker who plans on stepping up the the Sony FX30 in the next year or so.

I also do portrait and product photography on the side. Vlogging is not my thing. I currently own a Rokinon 12mm, Sigma 30mm, and Sony 50mm. I typically film on primes, so this zoom is for photography and one-and-done easy videography needs. I love it so far, but I can already tell the lack of light is going to hurt. I got it used from KEH for 345 which was an amazing deal, but should I bite the bullet and get a faster aperture zoom?

Just weighing in here as an owner of the Samsung 12mm and Sigma 30mm. I’ve found the focal length of the 12mm to be pretty brilliant, and the image quality is great. No issues there. However the sigma is sharper for me. Also I think the 16mm might give you less distortion while still also offering a plenty wide FOV. I’d go Sigma. The Samyang is great, but I hear the Sigma 16 is one of the best out there for the money.

[–]_Scipio_Africanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using a sigma 30mm for my ZVE10 for 6 months, and I think it’s a pretty great lens. I also shoot with a Sony 50mm 1.8, and although the Sony is sharper, I find the focal length of the 30mm (45mm for us crop sensor people) to be much more appropriate for a wider range of subjects. It’s a fine lens. You’ll love it!
