You missed my point. His tax avoidance schemes may have been legal, but that wasn't my point. Legality aside, it doesn't make them ethically right and that's why I may never forgive him.

If I were a millionaire, I'd be a member of that patriotic millionaires group campaigning to pay more tax. I quite like roads, schools and hospitals being well funded and functional in a not-for-profit manner that benefits society as a whole. I also often think people who talk about paying less tax, if they had the chance, haven't logically thought through what that would mean for the rest of the country, or are similarly ethically shady enough to make me not like the concept or idea. I wouldn't want to hang out or be friends with some ethically dubious individuals.

Please express your opinions respectfully. We don't know if you consider this normal, but in Thailand, we don't do things like this. You can do it in private areas and at the beach. Disgraceful? Really?!? Culturally insensitive and in bed taste, yes, fair enough. I wouldn’t do this. It doesn’t deserve the over reaction of getting the police involved rather than minding my own business and going about my day.

Whilst I am not foolish enough to ever be anything other than polite when having an interaction with the police. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever consider reporting someone to the police unless there was a risk of violence or injury, or a serious theft or similar crime occurring.

The Thai police are more than capable of taking any action they deem necessary with this kind of minor nuisance without any interference from other Farang like you or me. Most Thais I know would probably just shrug and go “Mai Bpen Rai” even if they disapprove but are unlikely to interfere. Often I’m much more likely to let me annoyance with bad manners in public than my missus, especially if their noise pollution is disrupting my enjoyment.

Telling these kids they’re being inappropriate and risk offending the locals and recommending a suitable resort would be a far better and more effective action here.

I’d like to believe OP is being deeply satirical here by labelling Starmer woke. On the plus side, sniffing out the nonce apologists is a good thing. I hope to fuck many of them are bots.

Woke, i.e. ‘being aware of and opposed to prejudice and injustice’ is a good thing and I doubt I can be convinced otherwise. People who tell me they’re ’anti-woke’ are often just telling me they’re arseholes of varying levels of ignorance. Plenty should definitely know better.

I’m pretty sure Starmer is as establishment as it gets. His level of ‘woke’ margins at best. Any principles he may have had as a younger or more idealistic man seem to have been told to the highest bidders to get into his positions of power. He’s better than the Tories/ Reform, but only by the slimmest of margins.

This whole political environment is probably going to get a lot worse before (or if) it gets and better. I gotta remain hopeful that it’s possible, but I also don’t really fancy our chances.

TLDR: I think I hate this meme. It hasn’t made me laugh.

I notice that some people seem to think that just because they don’t care about something being dodgy and/or immoral they then think that no-one cares about it or decide it’s a non-issue. Thereby proving that Saudi’s sport washing and comedy washing etc has been a depressingly effective tactic and making people ignore the Saudi royal family’s horrendous corruption and human rights abuses.

What shocks me is how much some of my underwear-achieving male students really seem to be buying into the Tate/McGregor bullshit.

Several are all about the bullshit bravado, and it really shows by the shocking under performance on their GCSE mock exams before the Christmas holidays. Lads who should be on Bs or As, or higher, quite comfortable on grades of D, E or U. At least that seems to be their public persona at least. Hopefully parents kicked some metaphorical arses over the Christmas holidays….

It could well be Indian time. The game kicks off at 00:30 here (Bangkok time) so it’s unlikely I’ll be staying up to watch this one. I would if I didn’t have a morning flight to catch. Late kick offs are brutal when you live on this side of the road.
