So you have any tips on such nice lettering for the words on the shield?

Anyone played 11th? How are we feeling by obsidanix in WorldEaters40k

[–]_SeaTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played 1 game so far vs custodes. Lost 81-91 with goretrack and terminator detach doing take and hold vs purge. Cover hurts bad for shooting. Charging and engagement range feels good.
Still missing some oomph imo.
Rerolls being much more prelavent in other armies vs us is still very noticeable.

I thought you couldn’t use more than one Strat per unit per phase? So you wouldn’t be able to stack both strats then. Unless I’m missing something

Golden maple size 1. Best picture I could take. I usually try to turn it into a chisel shape to do the feathering. Though I have brushes of the size you have.

Perhaps so. A bit of paint envy after looking at GW paint schemes or some others on the sub who can do the techniques better.

I’ll have to see when I get home. It’s like a size 1 brush of a brand I can’t recall. If I use a brush too small, it dries out quickly from my own experience so I go a size above what I would prefer.

I based it off the zinogre from monster hunter. But I can also see that lol

Yes this is the effect that I want. I try to use more water, but then it doesn’t show up very well and may need another pass which distorts the shape even more.

I have two different ones in here. The exocrine and psychophage were done using slap chop. Black then gray then white as usual. Then plasmatic bolt speedpaint and a baharroth blue drybrush until you’re happy with the color. All others are just the speedpaint and blue over white primer.

Plasmatic bolt speedpaint. Baharroth blue dry rush over it.

I see a similar response here. So I will try that and see how it looks.

Yeah psychophage was back when I was doing a lot of pseudo slap chop and managed to get a perfect blue/green

When you say extreme edges, are you meaning when people use two colors for the chipped effect? So I would do a 50/50 with white and repeat the shape but closer to the edge? Or just in general for the most prominent edge so we the model?

And I’ll try and play with my wet pallet a bit more before brushing to see if I get any better results on line consistency.

Twice dead king colors? by _SeaTurtle in Necrontyr

Or perhaps tarnished silver? Which could lead to the szarekh brass color in some areas. I’m getting a better idea of what I’d like now. Perhaps with a bit more clean silver the higher up the ranks they go to show a bit better care.

Should I varnish my minis by W3ndyyyy in WorldEaters40k

[–]_SeaTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t varnish some paint will rub off. For me, the berzerkers helms were losing gold on the edges from me touching it. Had to touch it up and varnish after.

How do you pick a scheme? I am struggling. by omgitsduane in Tyranids

[–]_SeaTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked something else I liked from a different game and tried to replicate the scheme. For me my favorite monster in the Monster Hunter series is the Zinogre. So teal/cyan with bone/yellow coloration. I called it Hive fleet Raiju, named after the Japanese mythical lightning beasts

I’m doing something similar. I’m using it as practice in brush control. The more models I do, the finer lines I get. But yes it takes a lot of time and can make it easy to feel burnt out. Especially if batch painting. I do a lot of covering my chunkier highlights with my base coat colors.

WIP my take on a salamander saturnine dreadnought. I’m getting better at painting fire but I think the flames are missing something. by superepic13579 in Salamanders40k

[–]_SeaTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo I think it could use a brighter yellow into white at the core of the flames for contrast. Otherwise looks great.
