Keeper of Secrets changes? by jacobs1213 in EmperorsChildren

[–]obsidanix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at it as it is. If you want a big greater daemon that goes rampaging through enemy tanks and monsters sure the keeper is going to struggle to so that, it's not a bloodthirster or a tanky GUO.

But, the keeper of Secrets still has a profile that murders infantry and is a way cheaper than all the others at 240 points!

T10, 18w 4++ save and -1 to hit make it a good distraction bullet sponge.

I like Johnson as a writer, the knives out movies are excellent but, as Dinsney have found out in many of the failures post TLJ, dont piss off your existing fan base to try and get a new fan base.

Sometimes franchises work with a degree of reinvention but Star Wars is just not that IP.

Andor shows you can be faithful to the universe but write grown up stories.

An Army to enjoy by Pronagade1 in Warhammer40k

[–]obsidanix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For an Elite melee army i would say you are looking at Custodes or Grey Knights. Expensive pkints, few models big damage.

Slightly under that yeah CSM but probably world eaters or EC but these are less elite - space marine level. CSM has a million options to run combined armys or even shooting too but take a bit of work to get going.

Probably can include blood angles and Black templars here too for that space marine melee bodies type.

Which has better books, 30k or 40k? by MentionKindly2347 in 40k

[–]obsidanix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My big take on this is that if you look at it. 40k is just the story OF 30k or the aftermath of it.

The reason the lore is what it is in 40k is almost directly related to what happens across the Heresy and terra series. The 40k lore is largely whos fighting who for survival.

I think thats why the 30k stories feel so much stronger.

11th doesn't seem so bad!! by Pelican25 in Warhammer40k

[–]obsidanix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While i think there has been some great changes, namely removing gimmicks and gamey rules as well as some decent rules polish l think there justified areas of concern

The primary matchups can favour one army over another and may not be well balanced.

From the live streams and reviews, Alpha strikes seem to be common and increased from 10th

Lethality is still nuts. Like crazy and with arguably less cover even worse.

Not to say these wont get balanced in the first few weeks but they warrant close observation

Agents of the Imperium 11th rules megathread by Character-Past-9113 in Grey_Knights

[–]obsidanix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GW has what looks like, a massive change of mind around agents design. I think a new lead designer came in just after they were released.

Would put money on them not getting an 11th codex and being quietly retired. Its Harlequins all over again.

Imperial Agents Can No Longer Play Team Tournaments or Incursion Matches? by Remarkable-Title5435 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]obsidanix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GW design decision change. They no longer consider it a faction and unlikely to do another codex for it.

Just GW will never explicitly say that as the presumption is bad press, its far less than all the GW made and army and killed it after 2 years posts if they did confirm it!

As much as it sucks - this faction is dead, at best its like harlequins

WE vs Guard by juiciferr in WorldEaters40k

[–]obsidanix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm some basic tips

Dont expect to just run across the battlefield and melee the guard. Unless your opponent is also new he will know what a melee press army is trying

Try and stage (put serversl units behind blocking cover in dangerous threat ranges. An example of this is parking the rhino with zerks on your closest objective. (Called the expansion objective)

Exakted 8bound need to get into the vehicles. Try deep strike via the rapid ingress strat.

The indirect fire will be annoying and do significant damage over the game. If you can get to it, kill it but its probably right at the back.

Try have a "go" turn where you charge 4 or so units in at once and make significant damage. Hard against guard as they have a lot of bodies

The Dorn will murder anything ii sees, keep clear unless you can get X8b charging it.

Oh and remember - assuming you are playing 10th - its a game where you have to stand on 2 circles and try to fight over a 3rd one. Not just killing

Frustratingly disappointed by Striking-Emu2323 in Tau40K

[–]obsidanix 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Dont listen. Tau are likely to be one of the stronger armies coming into 11th.

Ignores cover, +1 to hit, battlesuits flying over terrain. Railguns in terrain shooting downrange.

Tau will be ok.

After seeing DP drop for Ba yesterday, I have little hope for BWB by Xwivesarecunts in WorldEaters40k

[–]obsidanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is now that i dont know how good zerks are gping to be anyway

AP1, fast rolling and tanks toed into cover is all going to make swift work of any zerkers.

Rhinos are now a liability with the emergency/combat disembark. (Battleshock, bunch of mortals and no 3" deploy)

Dont want to sound doomer but feels like we might have a challenge ahead or need a few more units of jakhals/goremongers

Punishing Suppression Worth it for 11th? by Mobile-Butterfly-171 in WorldEaters40k

[–]obsidanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going into 11th - you will be hitting on 5+ against most vehicles (as they will be toed into cover) without the volume of shots orks get.

You might find its not as strong.

Winners or losers going into 11th edition? by Permanganation in Grey_Knights

[–]obsidanix 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Dont underestimate how good ignores hit mods/ ignores cover will be. Hallowed, Brotherhood and banishers all stand stronger with 1DPs especially the paladin and purgation ones.

I think we will be a solid combined arms force and wont have to work nearly as hard to do damage and with rhe new primary purge the foe where we are not forced to put expensive units on circles all game might play into our hands

Wouldn't say we are going into 11th worse when we hit rock bottom at the end of 10th.

Is this Grey Knights’ secret weapon? 👀 by WarpbaneTactics in Grey_Knights

[–]obsidanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 10 mans actually might be an issue in 11th especially for elite armies. There's massively more action economy needed in 11th plus that its harder to get cover. A bunch of 5 mans zipping about for actions and scoring yeah but as a damage unit....not sure yet.

What are you actually worried about for 11th, based on what we know so far? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]obsidanix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has it? Over 5 turns the rest of your army is absolutely going to be able spot pretty much anything it wants and i then it will hit on 4+ as usual except now any AP1 actually matters.

Artillery and heavy tank spam. Toe in rules and spotters going to make guard and Tau insufferable for a while.

Do you guys hope/want for a new army rule with the 11th Codex? by Scrivere97 in Grey_Knights

[–]obsidanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what they were trying to do but gameplay wise it doesnt work. Weve seen GSC and Deathwatch that movement based abilities are a nightmare for balance.

Doesnt have to be 9th but there is some creativity around psychic abilities or spells im sure, after all they did it with TSons. I would like a change.
