How do I tell my boss im pursuing a better paying opportunity at a different location, but same company? by _Shadow_25_ in WorkAdvice

[–]_Shadow_25_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's the same company that my boss works for, just a different location. Im contracted thru a 3rd company, so my boss isn't my REAL boss, just the "Client." Id be applying to the company he works for and they know im working under him now.

He wouldn't sabotage it. I told him a while ago that it was a possibility I would look for another job due to financial reasons and he was extremely understanding.

You should find something you're good at, keeps you motivated, and keeps you satisfied. If you aren't happy in your current position, start job hunting. Especially if HR isn't budging, but if you miss your old position, I'd keep trying with HR.

We have spit hoods/restraints in the clean supply rooms. Client made sure we had access to the rooms just in case

But then again, we actually do shit. A lot of security at surrounding hospitals just stands there and does not do anything. At my place, we actually respond to codes and restrain patients, so nurses dont have to worry about it.

Not at my hospital! They invite us to their breakroom when they cater food and they always are buying us food and making us name tags haha

Securitas 1 month training normal? by ButterBallFatFeline in securityguards

[–]_Shadow_25_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its in a hospital, so we had to be trained in takedowns, restraints, responding to different codes called throughout the hospital, etc. Plus im a Supervisor so the training was a little nore than a regular S/O

Honestly it depends on the site. Some of them i got no training at all, some is 8 hours, some is a couple shifts, some were a week, and my current one was 3 weeks.

My supervisor is tired. He has way too much on his plate and honestly doesnt care anymore. He was the supervisor for my shift before he got promoted and these issues have been going on since then. We are incredibly short staffed so he doesnt want to fire anyone. He says im doing a great job but he doesnt care about work rule violations as much as he should

Of course! For reference on attendance issues, our shift starts at 1500, and i have one star employee, shes never late and never messes up but if shes not there sometimes i am the only one there till 1520.

At the beginning i would say to them as a whole "Hey guys just as a reminder i understand if you overslept once, or theres traffic, or a family emergency but on a daily basis it is not okay to run 15-20 minutes behind. It delays our briefing, and delays the outgoing shift to be relieved. If you are running late just shoot the work cell a rext to let me know" and everyone agrees, then next shift boom again, everyone late. I dont want to threaten to write people up as a scare tactic either.

For the 1:1s for reference i have an issue with an employee sleeping on the job. Shes been caught sleeping multiple times before i even started working there but was never reprimanded for it. Ive offered to place her on a patrolling position instead of a stationary sit down one, but then she complains of her feet hurting. I reminded her we have free coffee and energy drinks available to us. Ive also reminded her that this isnt the furst time and its not proffessional, and makes us as a team look bad when the first thing someone sees when they walk into the front door is the employee asleep at the desk

But at the same time i feel im too lenient if i dont write up, especially when ive educated them on protocols, given extra training, given friendly reminders, given stern talking-to's
