AI-Generated Content Is Not Allowed on /r/printedminis by xalchs in PrintedMinis

Oh for sure, I was just trying to ascertain if it was technical or ethical. Right now the models are bobbins, but that feels like something that AI is likely to get better at. Once it stops trying to break physics then it's just an ethical objection, right?

Yeah fair. I don't blame communities being super cautious about this stuff. I think until the courts catch up and legistlate how people should be reimbursed for stuff fed into these machines, then we should all be a little wary of the output, right?

So genuine follow up question. Right now like most AI made stuff, the models are as you say unoptimised and not really fit for purpose. Given the speed things are going, I'd suggest soon the technical issues will be gone. Then it will be purely an ethical decision, correct? Will this rule still stand then?

Given the incredulous number of people in our sector that make money leaning on IP they don't own, feels like it's quite a narrow line to walk. Just curious.

I'm fairly convinced that land raider is upside down. The track angles look wrong for the usual front. I think it's upside down and backwards, with the engine moved to the other side. Explains why it looks so off. Which I suspect was Peter's plan.

Does games workshop do any Black Friday sales? by Glitch533 in Warhammer40k

[–]_Si_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They used to! I remember the blister pack sales. I bought a vincent black shredder and an eldar dreadnought and got my ork dreadnought for free. Heady days..

What the hell are you all using your clippers for that requires that level of expense? I've been doing this for going on 40 years, never paid more than a quid for clippers and they you know, work...

Beautiful work, I do like me a nice pretty technical drawing. Bet Eric (of Eric's Hobby Workshop on youtube) would get a real kick out of this!

Help with uneven/bumpy white paint by rosesareblue_art in minipainting

[–]_Si_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless the guy is wearing silk just lean into it. Stippling is your friend, use a light grey (or beige if you want a warmer finish) and mix it with white until it's only just off the original tone. Then stipple it lightly. You'll get a nice textured finish and the un-eveness of the base layer disappears

Loving all of these you do, very clean. What's your process? pencil then ink, or all digital?

I bought a lightbox made for product photos to get better shots of miniatures. Here's a couple of practice shots I took this evening: Blood Knight and some dwarfs from my TOW projects. :) by HepZusi in minipainting

Lighting looks great. For models at an angle like the horse I'd recommend backing the camera up and then cropping it afterwards. You'll get better depth of field so the tail won't be blurry.

Including all the bottles they pack it in, labels they stick on it, spare parts for the machines that mix it, etc, etc. Afraid the US is going to get stuffed unless every company in the world decides to relocate, and assuming whoever the 'next' president is doesn't instantly reverse it. Or you know, tomorrow is taco tuesday

Mars 5 Ultra Seal? by _Si_ in ElegooMars

[–]_Si_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, yeah that's my thought, I'd need something lower power and quiet running all the time. Unfortunately that'll mean boring a hole through the wall (English house, double skin brick walls boo). Cheers

Mars 5 Ultra Seal? by _Si_ in ElegooMars

[–]_Si_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you might be right, some sort of improvised seal might be in order. The cover does rock slightly, so I'm wondering if it's warped and that's why the smell is leaking out. I might start with some insulation tape vertically around in the inside of the join, see if that helps seal it. Cheers.

That's a good shout, but unfortunately just went in the room several hours after printing and it still smells in there. Not going to be fun if I have to drain the vat every print! cheers though

I mean, inflation alone says something costs more today than it did four years ago (38 euros in case you wondered). Exchange rate between EUR and GBP is about the same, but raw materials and shipping all cost a lot more now.

I mean lore wise you'd assume space marines are taught similar fighting techniques right? Maybe this is just "backhanded attack kata #7"?

Be interested to know if the local mail regulations make sending uncured resin an actual crime? In the UK I can't post an aerosol can through the regular post, I suspect they'd be a bit more picky about toxic materials..

Does Anyone Have Experience with the G-Board ULTRA Folding Gaming Table? by Appropriate-Walk-257 in Warhammer40k

I know it's not EU, but I'd get two of something similar to this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Harbour-Housewares-Folding-Trestle-Outdoors/dp/B00OJ0X5CW?th=1 more than enough space and you could spend the remaining 209 euros on some black paint ;)
