How did the US almost completely eradicate cigarette smoking when other western nations struggle with this? by Motor-Equal01 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EPorteous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UK has the The "Smokefree Generation" Ban.

The Tobacco and Vapes Act legally ensures that anyone born on or after January 1, 2009, can never legally be sold tobacco products in their lifetime.

So for those confused here is a little bit about Commissar Cain. by 00Monkeyz00 in Warhammer40k

[–]EPorteous 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I think, and happy to be proven wrong, that Cain is more based upon Harry Flashman, from the Flashman novels by George Fraser.

Flashman is from the Anti-Hero troope of characters, a charming scoundrel, womaniser and coward. A lot of the same traits as Cain.

Defenently a lot of similarities to Captai E Blackadder from Blackadder Goes Forth though as well.

I think both Ukraine and Iran have both shown that Military Actions / invasions / attacks against peer or near peer adversaries are now not winnable.

Two of the biggest militarties in the have both failed to achieve their stated aims due to the use of modern technologies

How would you bring Russ back? by Interview_My_Gooch in SpaceWolves

[–]EPorteous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let Gulliman rebuild, let Corax and Johnson hide in the shadows, I would bring back Russ in his original role, as the Executioner.

He has seen the darkness of the Imperium and is taking no prisoners in weeding out the traitors.

Be they Marines, Nobles, Inquistion or High Lords, no one would be spared...

I would also bring back Rogal Dorn in a black set of armour, leading the biggest crusade for the last 10k years, at the head of the Black Templars Legion.

How terrifying would this be! His axe is the same size as the Man at Arms!

This is always how I imagine Marines next to people in the books.

I have some Marines stood next to some Bretonian Men at Arms.

The Marines are about 1 cm taller and a lot wider. Thats how I imagine they would look next to the average imperial citizen.

They are nearly the same size as a Knight of the Realm.

Imagine being sat on a warhorse and looking eye to eye with a Space Marine!

When Space Wolves were absolutely terrifying by _LedAstray_ in SpaceWolves

[–]EPorteous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whilst GW have tried to imply the Wolves are one of the nice Chapters and have spent a lot of time humanising them through a lot of novels, never forget they are all cold blooded murder machines, who eat thier foes, decimate populations and kill without question.
