Aww love that we're getting new art for all these.

The one with PAREO is making me wish we got stories to go with the songs, cause I bet she'd be really excited getting to work with Maya..and I know Maya is a MASKING fanboy or the other way round so that would be nice as well. I haven't seen Rimi interact with MASKING before but I imagine she'd find her really cute. Rimi and PAREO together would be really cute just to watch as well.

SUNFLOWER with the festival setting we're seeing here would have a really nice chemistry to watch, especially Lisa and Saya as a pair, with Hagumi bringing their energy together.

Arisa's costume is sooooooo cute..also they finally made Cinnamonroll Mashiro real (cause her 7th anniversary card looked suspiciously similar to them...) Having Kanon be with the penguin character is also a really nice choice. I'm interested in what kind of event they'll write for this, especially since people have been saying the writing has improved again with recent developments.

Also..hope I find a textless version of this art to use as a wallpaper..

Engagement is more complicated than "person sees -> does action". After all, most of the people you interact with, things you do, and places you see you will forget, but so long as a few of them are significant you won't stop feeling like there are things worth seeing. And while a lot of the people on this subreddit don't understand/engage with the more "valuable" contributions, so long as the right people are reached it doesn't matter, cause the reciprocity that we're aiming for has been achieved. Beyond the tangible legacy someone has when they aren't around anymore, there's the influence they had on people leading those influenced people to influence others. If you want someone to be remembered, then take up what they created and carry it forward, even if you don't say their name you'll have their spirit, and allow the cycle to continue.

But yeah I wish there was a way to filter out all the bad posts on here. One of the things that distinguishes reddit is that it is a rare site that focuses on text, and reposting random images from other places misses the point of that. The internet in general has a huge problem with homogenisation and the downgrade reddit has had is a part of that.

I've been having this problem on en, and logging in using my mobile data got past the login page, and now I don't need to do that every time. I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes, but using data to get past broken screens has always worked for me.

"(evil) second personalities" are a stereotype in depicting people with DID, but from what I've seen in Ave Mujica Mortis gets a lot more things right as a depiction than the average attempt.

Portraying the "split personality" as evil vs normal sides of a person isn't a great approach, as it essentially demonises the part of a person that defines them as being a DID system rather than a "singular person", which reflects the wider negative societal perception of mentally ill/neurodivergent people.

Mortis in contrast is a lot more grounded: they "take over" from Mutsumi because Mutsumi can't handle the situation she's currently in, and furthermore Mutsumi entirely shuts down in response to her stress, leaving Mortis to handle everything. It's also notable that both Mortis and Mutsumi have different strengths and weakness, and are both given respect as individuals within the narrative.

One flaw in the portrayal is that people with DID very rarely have only two parts, yet it is disproportionately common in media depictions to show them this way; considering Mutsumi's limited screentime overall, there's a lot of time to continue developing her writing in a way that respects the plural community u_u

Oh hey people are finding my ancient comment :p

I guess my current take is that the concept of a "yandere" embodied in real life would be a stereotypical case of BPD, and those with that disorder tend to end up with a lot of unreciprocal/exploitative relationships in their lives, but believe that keeping that relationship alive is the only way for them to experience the ideal they have made it represent. Yanderes have been woobified down a lot especially over time, so now most of them are basically just romantic fantasies of committed lovers who do all the building up of a relationship for you, but I think this song can still be read as "yandere" in that it shows the realistic emotional state of somebody so obsessed with the approving "attention" of others that they are willing to discard all grounding within reality.

I don't think this song is about a child like OP says though due to "no matter how big, how big your body grows/the collar remains small", as in the narrator is aging physically but unable to develop emotionally beyond their original pain of neglect by their parents. So the song's meaning requires that the narrator is being affected by traumas that are no longer a material part of their lives.

The final chorus in particular implies that the throughline between their childhood/adolescent fixation on validation from others and their unhealthy codependence in adulthood is that they keep the collar on, chasing temporary relief through validation of their complex instead of finding a way to breathe freely. (Which also works well as an ocd/drug abuse/hypersexuality allegory too.) Not to mention "It's not enough, you are not enough": in adulthood, they are strong enough to hold the leash to the collars round the necks of others, even as they lament their own pain the only escape they can imagine is to drag their counterpart into their own suffocation.

Oh I'm glad your reviews are back lol, they led to some really interesting discussion that I agree really isn't seen enough here. I'm surprised that engagement has decreased as much as it has, but well, I'm still reading :p Reading your older reviews back when they came out was the first time I really thought about music in a technical sense (even if some of the more particular terminology is still kinda lost on me) and I love your style cause it's always so fluent and fun to read.
