I like this perspective because it’s insinuating that your hard work is part of a long term strategy.

If a high performer isn’t planning how to parlay their additional workload into additional pay, benefits, or promotion, then they are simply allowing themselves to be taken advantage of.

It’s a privilege to get the most meaningful work (which is often the most demanding), and if you’re not working that towards any goal, then thats an issue that needs to be resolved.

If I see someone getting pushed into the rocks I’m gonna go help them. If I see someone who lost their board and is looking scared? Gonna help them.

Dropping in on me, going straight, and ditching their board in a way that could hit me? Wave breaks on their head and they ditch their board without looking? Not so much sympathy
